Torrents vs. NZB

I see usenet has all 6 seasons of futurama. I have a account at nzbsrus.com though but there is all season 1-6 its a bit old at +- 600 days but with a usenet provider like usenetserver,astraweb,fastusenet,gibinew,giganews,supernews all those you should be able to grab it.

Half have missing parts Tried it.

I'm trying to get Futurama without luck from both nzb and torrents

I just finished downloading seasons 1-5 -got it on tpb and downloaded to downstorm. Plenty of seeds, no issues. Weird that you're having issues with it :-/

Use to use torrents a long time ago, but now never use torrents. Takes far too long and have to worry about seeding etc. Nzbs are the way to go

I use both, depends what easier. Regular download via NZB (sickbeard) and other stuff via Torrent. Each has its place and use

As others have said, I also use both. Torrents (through a torrent box) for old stuff (200+ days), and Usenet for everything else.

Guess it is easier to share old content using Torrents and assume younger users would find it easier to use.

utorrent is very light and thepiratebay has everything I need with a simple search function and one click download.

I get all the series just as quickly as the newsgroups do. I get all the series I cant get here as they hit the net.

If you not going with a paid subscription from my experience newservers downloads are faster.

I think this used to be true, but not so much anymore. I haven't needed used a torrent in ages - I should really get rid of my downstorm account :/

I agreed. Indie films, foreign language films, old TV shows, torrents.

Nzb's rock coz no shaping, but mainly, sickbeard, sabnzbd, and the Android remote.

I wasn't even considering NZB's until reading this thread... After checking how awesome these components integrate, I am sold. Now just to either find a PC to use as an HTPC, or to just buy some components.

How efficient would it be to install all the required apps on a laptop? I know the automation wouldn't be as great, since it's not always going to be on the home network. But is it still feasible?

I'd use the laptop solely for automating the downloading... then using another PC for watching. You don't need much hardware to download

I ran my laptop this way for two years. Now I have an HP microserver. Get it. Takes 15 minutes to get all of the above up and running with openelec.

Think I am going to get going on it then - the watching isn't so much of an issue at the moment, i have a decent NAS with a built-in media server. So all my movies and series are already watched via my Xbox, straight from the NAS. So if I can download on the laptop that is fine for now. Even if I need to manually copy the media when I am actually on the home network again.

NZB's here I come
