Torrents vs. NZB

Ok noob question (sorry for hijacking the thread) - only recently started using nzbs. Howcome I select a file that says 5GB yet when it downloads and extracts the resulting mkv file is only about 700mb? It was a 3D blu ray 1080p btw, I am wondering if I did something wrong and lost quality in the process?

Ask on the site you used to queue the file, the users / staff there should be able to help you better.

I am using nzbmatrix with sabnzbd and when I kick off a download I get the full glory of my 4mb line.

Pro's:

1. Full speed
2. Can almost find anything - good at series and movies
3. Nzbmatrix can be trusted WRT the downloads etc (still scan for viruses though)

Con's
1. You have to pay for Nzbmatrix (but like everything else that gives good service it costs)
2. I have found if you downloading an entire series in on i.e. CSI Season 13 which is say 60gig's the big downloads always fail at the last bit for what ever reason

Torrents they seem to nail on the ISP's.

http://zbigz.com/ (torrents to HTTP) you get 150KB/s per HTTP link. But for $9.99 you get limitless speeds and other benefits.

OMG! Dude I love you. Going to try them out for a month. The only thing that sucks about Downstorm is the 6GB storage limit on my bronze account. If I change I will miss the awesome series portal page that Downstorm has though...

P2P does suck on shaped accounts, which is why many people, including myself, use torrent-to-http services. I pay R49 a month for 6GB of storage space. I get downloads at line speed, a webpage with direct links to all new TV show episodes, a 100% seed ratio and the excellent world of torrents (far superior for music and has all the movies, ebooks, software & series I could possibly want).

@Khanya Thanks for the link, such an awesome site you found there. I have been using Downstorm for ages and have been very happy with it. This could be a great free alternative

I prefer nzb solely because of the integration to sickbeard and couchpotato. Having a PVR for movies and series is just awesome!

I know, I know guys... It's serving me very well. I get 150KB/s more also, more like 250KB/s-300KB/s. My free trial days were yielding almost 8Mbit/s. I'm gonna buy premium for R90 bucks. Unlimited storage as well, torrents literally flying off their servers at 10MB/s! Awesome after torrific disappeared.

Is it R90 per month?

Hows this work? I've been waiting for a torrent for ages, its 12GB - created an account, added the torrent, it downloaded in a few minutes... So I click download link - and its been sitting on this for the last 20min.
Code:
Archiving of files
close
Please wait
Zbigz is creating archive

Finished 0.00 B of 12.59 GB
It usually takes several minutes depending on files' size

yes before downloading you can select which files you want, may even be able to do that during. cant remember...

Hmmm... I can't find that :-/ I know there's a download button next to each file - is that what you're referring too?

I use utorrent. When you click the torrent and it downloads, utorrent opens it and one of the screens before downloading opens the torrents files. You can then check/uncheck the boxes. I'm sure u can do it during the download unless that file has started downloading already
