I tested Unity on my laptop, and, being a technical user, I unfortunately find it lacking in its present form. The lack of customization is appalling. No systray, keepassx isn't rendered on screen after clicking the launcher in the unity dock, and a couple of other things (including the bug where proprietary drivers app says "driver is activated but not in use", notwithstanding the neatly written xorg.conf and all effects working).
When I dabbled in KDE back in 2001, it wasn't in its prime. Now, after Unity yesterday, I realise that KDE 4.6.2 is really a good DE in comparison. Goodbye, Gnome/Unity after so many years.
As easy as
Code:
sudo apt-get install kubuntu-desktop
Congrats, KDE team.
