Even on the other ISP's - prepare to be shaped to death ! The only way these ISPs can restrain their costs is to limit high volume users by shaping. These "great" offers would become "unpractical" soon and might lead to a lot of complaints. I would rather pay more and get about 10GB UnShaped - knowing I rely on the speed of certain functionality when doing my work on-line.

You have this option already, and have had it for quite a while now, at decent prices too.

Just depends on the "shaping" and "throttling" rules. maybe worth a try?

No, it doesn't. Because the regulations were so loosely worded and recorded, it required Telkom to publish contention ratios. Which they did for the local network. If I recall correctly on local bandwidth you
have about 1:20 ratio. International is still a closely guarded secret.

For a true uncapped service based on a 4MB line, I would be willing to pay R 300.00 pm, but then it needs to be truly uncapped and unshaped.

I would be willing to pay R600 a month for a true 4MB uncapped line (line rental included of course)

1. someone pleeeease tell me: were these guys making 100000% margins all along? why is it that they are all undercutting each other now, whereas they were content to just screw the customer all along. the complain has always been telkom, but now telkom hasnt even come to the party and we are seeing this?

Interesting question, one I've been asking myself. Why now? Seacom has landed ages ago why do we only see the benefit now?
Surely makes a good argument for having been ripped off all these years @ R70+ per gig.
I don't think any ISP deserves any sympathy at the moment.

Yeah, I dunno. MWeb shaved margins a lot to create a sustainable offer, which is why Afrihost's prices are only marginally lower yet again. MyISP is cutting some or other corner here.

For one, their website isn't even fully complete (the Q&A section is blank), and that already makes me wonder at their levels of dedication and professionalism.

Maybe because it takes 8 months to integrate a cable that's 5x bigger than the existing one? To actually build and line and connect and stress-test and get the servers and routers and switches and hubs and billing software and control software all working? Work out all the pricing packages and offers and marketing and branding? It's not like they could just jam the cable into a router somewhere and magically everyone has better adsl. FFS, it's been 8 months from cable go-live to consumer products, and as far as telcoms go, that's lightning speed for this sort of implementation.
