Uncapped ADSL for R159

WebAfrica Shaped Uncapped still at:

512k --> R1659pm + setup of R1710
1024l --> R3299pm + setup of R1710

with a 3 month notice period for cancellation.

Any takers? Not even ONE? Last chance.

Anybody who jumped onto the mweb bandwagon the first chance they got must be feeling a little silly right now. I'm gonna wait out the storm a little longer ;)

Maybe because it takes 8 months to integrate a cable that's 5x bigger than the existing one? To actually build and line and connect and stress-test and get the servers and routers and switches and hubs and billing software and control software all working? Work out all the pricing packages and offers and marketing and branding? It's not like they could just jam the cable into a router somewhere and magically everyone has better adsl. FFS, it's been 8 months from cable go-live to consumer products, and as far as telcoms go, that's lightning speed for this sort of implementation.

Well said :).

Wait a little longer yes...by the time you sign up, the rest of us would have downloaded the internet already. :D

Then I can just buy myself a new hard drive and steal the internet from everybody else and not have to go through all the pain of requesting a new line from telkom etc etc etc :D Right now I don't even know what ADSL is :(

Another ISP that doesn't cater to 512k users. Fail.

And before everyone goes on about how it doesn't make sense to get a 512k line, for people like me that's the highest speed that our exchange is enabled for.

I only have one question - WHY? Surely you should have moved on to greener pastures by now?

@Clubbe They are reselling both IS and their own bandwidth, not just IS - get your facts straight. They even got their own news server now.

Seriously, I still think WA will be back with a bang.

That may be true, if fact I dont doubt it for one second they wont, as they will need to make an impact and gain ground.

My concern with WA, is their approach to this whole thing. In my opinion, their focus and vision is more on what the other players are doing, as opposed on themselves, not being innovative. Everything shy of trying to be a leader in the market. Anyone company that says they waiting for the dust to settle or waiting to see what happens ... you dont want to be a client of theirs. Well I stopped. I would like to be with a provider that can adjust with the times.

Heres hoping for more doers and less "dust to settle" waiters.

I have just phoned MyIsp and asked them why they don't have a 512k uncapped offer and they told me because 512k will be obsolete in 3 months time nationally.

Hmmm and 384 won't? Could this mean that we will all be upgraded beyond 512k? And they just sticking to 384k for now as it is a huge market? So many questions :p

Awesome move there by MyISP. still i think i will stay with Afrihost. i would prefer to stick with the good service i know than more to the Unknown. only chance of me moving again will be if telkom magically offers All inclusive 384 uncapped at R 100 p/m. :) .... when hell freezes anyone?

myISP which is Telkom needs to have more openWeb so I can axxess all the Data I want...I cant even imagine :P hehe that's 5 ISP's in one sentence for you!

I think this is a brilliant idea. Can't one of the programming / development guru's on the forum set up a site for this? Something similar to speedtest.net, but testing a variety of protocols.

I can do the applications, just need some servers to host the apps.

Eish.. this is getting better by the day. BTW my Afrihost uncapped is working great. Only had a some issues on Friday, but seems to be fine even during business hours.
