Under The Dome

I read The Stand about 4 times, watched the series back in the day, was 12 VHS cassettes, that was really dissapointing though. Hope with new tech they can do justice to the book.

Off to a good start, now they just need to maintain it. Thought the effects were pretty good as well.

I don't see any similarities...

People trapped in a confined space and mass confusion reigns, there's gonna be the good guy/s, the hot babe, the bad-ass cowboy, the neutral i'm-not-choosing-sides-and-ain't-making-waves character, and the token annoying idiot character.

I'll watch episode 1 and then revise my prediction (or not) :D

You forgot the paranoid serial killer.

I got halfway through the book then got bored. Might finish it off depending on how I feel about the series.

Enjoyed the first episode. Hope they can maintain the momentum.

I'll give you the confined space thing, but that is where it ends. Lost was a plane load of random strangers. UTD is a small town community with a few visitors. Lots of things are completely different. Also, you will find character similarities in any story...

Strangers or no strangers, I reckon in a situation like this it becomes every man for himself.

In fact, in a LOST situation, if a stranger nicks your pawpaws and coconuts or steals your lunch money you can't really be surprised, but if someone you shared a town with for a good length of time does it, you'd prolly have reason to be upset :)

Sure there will be character similarities - It's a proven formula! Besides, who wants to watch a show with no hot babes?? :wtf:

So, you agree that it is very different situations... :)

I give it one season. Like Jericho.

I thought it was a mini series, turns out there is 13 episodes planned for season 1 :wtf:

I downloaded the first episode last night, but having read and loved the book, I think I'll wait a few weeks before seeing how the reviews come in before watching or not.

I remember The Simpsons take on this. I believe they got the idea from SK's book.

Will get the first episode and see what it's like.
Thanks for the heads up Pooky.

To those riled by it not keeping "true" to the book, surely that makes it less predictable and therefore a little more entertaining. Surely the point is to keep to the spirit and arc of the book, and not the precise plot-points?
