I have been credited. Just waiting for it to show in the credit card then I will will call it solved.... The measures I had to go to to get this sorted. Justin helped me out atleast......

Email support is just a joke. They got like 20 diffirent department each doing a littlebit then handing it over. Thats the problem.

I've downloaded 16gb (all http) since the 1st on a 4mb uncapped WA account. I'm now throttled to 1mb :wtf:
Here are speedtests using the uncapped WA account:

And here are my speedtest results with my Axxess account, done less than 2 minutes after the WA tests.

Morning,

I would like to get our ADSL guys to investigate your issue as we had no reported issues last night.

Please PM me your customer code & details so I can have a look.

I'm at work during the day so I've only experience this slowness at night. I dont know what the speeds are like during the day.

I have escalated this to one of our Senior ADSL agents who will give you a call.

I have a 10Mb home uncapped account.

My line syncs at 10Mb and I normally achieve speeds around 950KB/s when downloading from the WebAfrica news server. In addition, I normally download before 7am to ensure that I am not caught by the business priority switch.

Yesterday (7th March) the line pretty much died on me, with average speeds below 100KB/s. There were one or two spurts back to 950KB/s, but in general speeds were well below 100KB/s the entire day.

Usage showed 5 stars when queried, i.e. no throttling.

This morning - at around 6h45 - the best that could be achieved was 120KB/s, with an average of around 105KB/s.

I have logged a call with Support. A speed test (at their request) showed a download of 1.13Mbps.

The modem shows a sync of 10Mbps. In addition the modem has been rebooted several times: no change.

Our engineers have made some significant changes to the profiles yesterday so it should have alleviated your problem.

I will need to get our Network team to also take a look. Can you PM me either your customer code or ticket ref number so I can take this up.

Since the profile changes yesterday the max speed I can get is around 1.77Mbps on my WA account this morning. This is even though the account has a 5 star rating:

If I switch to an Afrihost account I get full speed:

yep still not going faster than 30kb from servers where i could easily hit 200kb last month. right now downloading an android rom from Goo. same goes for mediafire.

Current test shows 37KB/s from news.wa.co.za

On Wednesday it was 955KB/s <sigh>

I have been doing some more testing by downloading from news.wa.co.za port 119.

  1. Reboot the router by turning off for a couple of minutes.
  2. Download file #1: full speed obtained i.e. > 950KB/s.
  3. Download file #2: file trickles down i.e. between 35KB/s and 100KB/s.
  4. Pause download.
  5. Reboot the router by turning off for a couple of minutes.
  6. Restart the download of file #2: full speed obtained i.e. > 950KB/s.
  7. Download file #3: file trickles down i.e. between 35KB/s and 100KB/s.
Status is five stars throughout.

It appears as though:

  1. The router reboot (for an extended period of time) causes a reset - maybe a new IP address ?
  2. The first file (after the reboot) works correctly.
  3. Thereafter the line is throttled.
It also appears as though the throttling occurs across the board, i.e. is not limited to P2P traffic only: NOT GOOD

Let me quickly test this from my side also.

Hmm stl about 30kps on my 1mps account , 5 star rating nttp traffic.

Morning Guys,

Our Network team has made more tweaks on our profiles late Friday which should have improved things.

@rrh, I have received your PM that things have improved. Thanks
