Web Africa Home Uncapped Feedback

Getting a bit upset now since the problem with downloading wasn't resolved even though you guys really did try to sort it out for me, (not even bothered really about it anymore) but now I am not even able to play during the day due to the amount of lag I am having.

I would get a ping of 22ms which is pretty good on 1Mbps line but for some reason during the last 30mins I have been getting a slideshow and can't play at all.

This is on Battlefield 3, for some servers I get a ping of 44ms and 23ms SIAX and IS or JHB vs CPT I think?

Anyway I don't get lag on this: 152.111.192.252

I literally get a unplayable slideshow on this: 197.80.200.28

Is there a problem on the network or something?

Both of those ips are on the M-Web network, with 152.111.192.252 in Cape Town and 197.80.200.28 on JHB, so probably latency to CT that is the problem somewhere from JHB.

Thank you for GREAT service and speed on my uncapped 4Mbps account

That's less than R1 a gigabyte, seems reasonable to me?

Not too happy due to it being an "uncapped" account; I don't mind shaping on the downloads but browsing should still be usable.

None of the traffic is P2P/NNTP (like zero); all remote backups of our server via Rsync.

If you compare your current usage to our old Uncapped accounts its much more than what you would have previously got. Also you are on a Home Uncapped package so being on 1 star will cause your browsing speed to deteriorate during the day but it should pick up after business hours.

Since you only using this account for server backups I would suggest you rather opt for a Business uncapped package or upgrade your package to a 10mbs service if possible as this will better suit your needs.

We have a few options to consider, might end up backing up to one of our dedicated servers instead provided we can add more storage; otherwise will look in to the business option.

Plugg 10mbps uncapped VS Webafrica 10mps uncapped Vs Afrihost capped

Plugg the outright winner: http://www.speedtest.net/result/2584096725.png
Followed by Afrihost: http://www.speedtest.net/result/2584102851.png
And then the poor performer Webafrica: http://www.speedtest.net/result/2584100135.png

Bring on end of the month when we move to Plugg, and run far away from Webafrica!!

Hi Double1,

Since we migrated to our new network we are still tweaking things and would like to see why your speed tests on our account was so low, so we can try to improve things.

Can you PM me your customer code or ADSL username.

I am looking for a new ISP. I need fast internet during the day and I download at night till early morning and over weekends.

Is this a good package for me?

Hi straatkat,

Our uncapped accounts will run at full speeds during the evening and weekends on all protocols but any NNTP/P2P traffic does not get prioritised during the day. So if you looking to use the account mostly for browsing, VOIP, etc during the day then a Home based package will be ideal otherwise I would suggest a Business Uncapped package.

International connectivity is down from like 7 this morning !!!
