1 gig bundle was R499.00 is now R399.00- introduction of a 500mb bundle-350 mb bundle is now R210.00-100 mb is now R80- 10 mb bundle remains unchanged.

****Please note that if a customer subscribes to the 1GB Data Bundle between 18 Feb 2007 and 18 May 2007, he / she will receive an additional 1GB of data FREE for three consecutive months after date of activation. For the duration of the promotional period, the following details relating to these two contracts will be communicated****

what this would mean is that you would be charged in effect 20c per meg, wowsas!:D
Eh? Is this saying that the two Gig thing is not permanent? i.e. that it's just a promotion for a few months?

of course! buy one get one free- this is a promotion! :p
Well that sucks!

Is it available on prepaid? I may as well make use of the promotion while it lasts.. but only if it works for prepaid bundles...

Nice, very impressive! Is this the announcement that was due for tomorrow or not? I presume they still only last a month? Do you have a link to a press release or something RPM?

Yes it is :)

So i assume if i took out a contract, it'll still only be first 3 months for the extra 1GB thing? I'm looking for a pure data contract and been waiting for just something like this to come along, but then i want it for 2 years ;).

Although at least i see now i can get some benefit for not taking a Modem, been waiting for that. I got all the gadgets by now, and for some strange reason MTN is the first to offer this rather "logical" option [forfeit modem and pay less ].

Oh found the site with the details about the contracts [1GB/500MB]
http://www.mtn.co.za/?pid=232088

EDIT: Iburst had the no-modem lower tariff for awhile, but they don't use the more standard modems used by cellphone companies [so i would need to get one of those anyway if i want to use iburst].

Ok, I must admit that I really like this deal and thinking of signing up for this buy 1GB and get 1GB free, but only for as long as the promo runs. But I have to ask: Why dont MTN give us the 2GB at this price on a permanent basis as I dont see why I should get a third contract just to get these data rates permanently?

That was what I was thinking as well!

If I have an MTN phone contract, do I still need to subscribe to an ISP for data, or is this all included?

My guess is the promo is a test period. Maybe MTN want to see what the uptake is and also how the network handles the additional loading.
Maybe the promo will be made permanent after that.

If you take out a 24 month contract you will get the free 1 GB for the full duration of the 24 month contract.

MTNSP is my ISP... I wont pay Telscum a cent 4 ADSL especially as my office is usually in my pocket and its pointless for me to pay 2 compannys for the same services. In any case I cant carry around adsl and use it wherever I am.

@MavChat: Is that an office in your pocket or are you just excited about MTN's new prices?
