I got myself a bottle of Woodford (that special with the bitters), and just got two Maker's Mark gift packs at Makro for R299 each. Makro was surprisingly quiet, with a CRAPLOAD of whisky on special. So that's Christmas gifts sorted for two people. One will get a gift pack, other one just the bottle (he's not bothered with the glasses).

I also got myself a shot measuring tool thing (finally). Been wanting one for a LONG time, purely because I've seen my singles "grow" lately to, uhm, worrying proportions.
 
Hey, OneDayOnly has that Bourbon Restock promo again. R999 for a Knob Creek, Maker's 46 and Maker's Mark combo. I think for R1k you can buy a lot worse. They have some other whisky specials as well.

I also did that recently...it has saved my life a few times since.
 
I actually bought it mostly for the upcoming Old Fashioneds I want to make, and I also want to try some other whisky cocktails. I haven't made a lot of cocktails in my life, but I know that measuring is important or the flavours don't work. And it was R40 for a double-sided measure. One side is a single, other side a double. Not bad.

Apart from cocktails, I mainly use mine when I’ve got guests
 
During a Compass Box eTasting last night, we were told by the Master Blender that this is an unbeatable combination.

If not, why not, I say....

Also received some old samples from an old family friend a year or so ago.
Chivas and Irish Mist whisky liqueur, along with some old bottles of red wine.

You're post reminded me about them, stuck in the back of the liquor cabinet. Never got around to try and check how old they really are...
