And the favor has been returned!! it's gonna be a good weekend indeed:
That Blanton's - is it the Gold or the regular one? I have some of the Gold left here at home and it's slowly trying to seduce me into buying another bottle. It's simply superb. I'd love to hear your thoughts on how it stacks up against other bourbons, like Buffalo Trace, Maker's Mark and Maker's 46. I want to buy a bourbon and those three are on my list (due to budget).

I think its just the regular one.

I'm not a bourbon drinker so I wouldn't be able to compare it against those you mentioned, as I've never had them.

I enjoy 100% corn Whiskey though...

Ah. OK well I think I'll get the Maker's 46 anyway. It's a nice whisky according to all reviews.

On the other hand, I'm looking for a nice peated whisky. I need to decide between Ardbeg 10, Laphroig Select or Quarter Cask, the Smokehead options, even a Caol Ila if I can find one. Wherever it's from though, I have to pay with eBucks. It's what I have to spend. Any hints/tips from anyone? If the prices are low enough, I might just slip a nice Speyside single malt in there as well.

From which site do you usually buy booze with eBucks? That may limit your options.

I don't usually do that. I'm looking at Makro or TAKEALOT. TAKEALOT's pricing is nice, and delivery is fast. They don't have Ardbeg though, and I really want to get an Ardbeg 10. Makro has whatever I need, but man, their delivery is HORRIBLE. Other option is Checkers. Their specials also aren't too bad, but I need to find their latest :D

Yep, ebucks will limit you severely unfortunately.

Kilchoman (available on Takealot) is also good, but it's not Ardbeg 10 or Laphroaig Quarter Cask

Buy your electricity for the month with your eBucks and use that cash to buy your Whisky... ;)

And where would be best to buy from? From what I've seen, Makro is cheapest by far. I'm just horribly not in the mood for a shitty delivery time. Maybe I should pop by this week somewhere. Other options?

Well...is there a Makro close to you with Arbeg 10 in stock?

See, I'm frustrated as crap right now. Makro has the Uigeadial on special, but it's an online only special with no stock in store. Problem is the delivery time is 40 days. Balls to that.

So the next one, An Oa, is out of stock at Makros everywhere. They have the 10 YO at the Makro closest to me, for R619, which isn't a bad price.

But then, none of the Makros in my area have the Maker's 46 in stock. So now I'm thinking I can just as well take the regular Maker's Mark, but then I also think that because I'm not going to go for the nicer one, I can just as well settle for the Buffalo Trace. Which is "low stock" at my local shop. If I go with the cheapest of the lots (Ardbeg 10YO and Buffalo Trace), I can just maybe afford another bottle of something. I'm low on light whiskies, so then a Speyside calls my name. Now Glenfiddich 12YO (my classic favourite) calls my name, but I've been burned with the last two bottles.

So because of that burn, the next-up whiskies start tickling my fancy. Makro has the Glenlivet Founder's for a good price (R399) so that also calls me, but then I look at that Lasanta and the Teeling Small Batch (not at Makro though) and I start messing up between all those in the R400~R600 price range. Then Laphroaig Select and Glenlivet 12YO and those compete, and the Laphroaig 10YO and the Macallan 12YO is just a little bit more.

So I'm lost. Totally lost. I know I should shop on a budget, and because I started making beer I've been out of the whisky buying scene for a long time. Some whiskies have gotten really expensive (like Ardbeg 10) and others actually got really cheap (like Glenfiddich 12YO, Glenlivet Reserve and Teeling Small Batch).

I'm frigging lost in buying whiskies.

In short, I want a peated whisky, a bourbon (Blanton's Gold hooked me the other day) and a light, fruity whisky (doesn't have to be Speyside, hell, doesn't even have to be Scotch). I have a budget of around R1,500, give or take a few. I know I should have gotten that Maker's Bundle for R999 the other day, and just a bottle of Ardbeg 10YO on top of that but I missed it. Major balls-up.

EDIT: Holy ****, that special still stands at Bottega... Damnit, now I've got to think A LOT.

The sale is still available at whiskey brothers and you can get 100 off if you have not bought from them before. If you can up your budget get that highland park
