I finished Star Wars Squadrons and it was great. I would love an RPG with similar ship mechanics.
I finished it too. Spread it out to around 4 missions per day.
I have mixed feelings about the game, so I'm glad I didn't buy it after giving the trial a go in December. But I'm more glad that I didn't buy it after seeing how short it is, and because of the holy Microsoft (prayer emoji because God is good) blessing us with the game for free really.
What I liked:
* Graphics are stunning
* Piloting is awesome
* The different ships you got to pilot
* The mild customisations you could do before each mission
Mixed feelings:
* Story, it's a bit weak. It centering on a massive ship that has a massive tractor beam still puzzles me.
* The characters didn't do it for me
* Weird facial animation, but I suppose that's an EA / Frostbite thing
What I didn't like:
* Didn't take too kindly to being suspended. I always had to restart the game. If I didn't I would either have a stuttery FPS or everything was sped up.
What I appreciate:
* It supporting VR
Fortunately the pros outweighed the cons, I was really nitpicking there. Something I found really odd is sometimes, and very briefly, the FPS would drop. It wasn't around any memorable areas, like big space fights or anything. There were far more graphic intensive scenes that were as smooth as butter, so I am going to blame the lack of optimising.
