Yebo 4 Less

Can't help but to love the eternal optimism of our beloved fellow forumites. :)

When prices are too high, people complain, when prices drop, or discounts are offered, people complain.

When there is no competition to Telkom, people complain, when Neotel launches, people complain.

Maybe LancelotSA has a point, have we become a nation of complainers?

You have not provided an answer as to why the same/similar discounts are not being made available to Contract customers?

Becasue the product team has given him a answer yet?

I am still waiting for VC to get the cell broadcast right.

Where can you go untill the end of your contract?? aka Heads we win, Tails you lose..

Yesterday I noticed on the info service messages that during peak times the discounts were either 0% or 5% and offpeak the max I saw was 50%. So during peak times the contract people will still be getting the better deal.

Vodacom just sounds right

Looks like MTN is letting another great idea being taken away from them right under their noses. The Vodacom Yebo4less product has a better advertising campaign (the advertisement on TV actually makes sense when compared to the obscure MTNZone add -- I couldn't make out what MTNZone was when I initially saw the add of the group of people jumping around and being excited at something, I think the marketing guys at MTN are smoking some heavy stuff), you get cell broadcast information on both on-net as well as off-net calls (whereas MTN only offers on-net call discount as far as I know) and the description of Yebo4less on Vodacom's website is generally much more clear when compared to the snippets of information that you get on the MTN website about MTNZone.

Copy-cats for MTN. What happened to always being the "First" in launching something?

Well, it's not always the fact that the company/person that came up with an idea first wins. In the end it is about who executes the idea better in the long run. News about what product offers better value for customers will spread just as fast as the news about the product itself. And in the initial stages of the Vodacom launch it looks promising (but only time will tell).

Well, I am gonna complaint if Vodacom is lying. My contract sim phone at this moment in time shows 50% and 50%. Now I thought contract users where excluded? If they are, it shouldn't show us this marketing BS lying nonsense and rather our towers.

And anyway, since it weekend when I phone I'll be using those 120 free minutes I recieve every month and thus my call will be 100% discounted. :D

Another question, is my Family Topup considered prepaid or contract?

I've got Family Top Up as well and in this case it would be considered contract because the Top Ups "plans" can't be changed like on prepaid.

Seeking shelter possibly:D

Not quite. :)

Kinda forgot to track this thread, normally hang out in the VC section.

The 'marketing' answer is that contract subs have always had much better rates and this product is to bring pre-paid more in line. Have you done a real-world compare?

I remember when we launched pre-paid data, everyone was quite surprised that pre-paid data was the same rate as contract.

Thank you, love you too ;)

Cell broadcasts are sent to all phones, so everyone will see the Y4L messages, pre-paid, hybrid and contract.

And as I stated I don't want them to show on my phone. Obviously I can disable cellphone tower broadcasts. but still, I'm not happy and will ponder what I mentioned...

In all my ranting, have I missed something key? My mom's phone on topup135, says Y4L 50% Voda underneath where it says Vodacom SA. Is this good?
