Yebo 4 Less

Why is this always the case? CellC launched free calls on weekends last year already but there is no mention of this in the article. MTN and Vodacom saw that they were losing so many clients and decided to give into the high prices!! If it wasn't for Cellc we would still be paying premium for minutes.

PS
Cellc's contract clients also get free calls on weekends
hehe

VC need to tune the system, got bombared with cell broadcast with different discount rates between the full 95% 65% to 0% 0%, strangest thing everytime I dial *111*444# it's 0% 0% for my area......

Same here:confused:

Same here:confused:

Exactly.. i am confused too by the cell broadcast rates being inconsistent(55% then 99%) and then when you check with the number they provide it shows that its 0%:confused:

Surely there has to come the point where it is so bloody complex that you require a PC and some sophisticated software to have a freaking clue what a call is going to cost.

Also, is it "legal" to even do this - surely the "buyer" has the right to know what the price is before entering into a "sale"?

The discount is based on the a heap of factors including the load on your current tower, so as people make and receive calls on your tower, your percentage could change quite randomly.

If I understnad correctly, Vodacom pay for the backhaul on their towers irrespective of call, if no calls are being made it is running idle, like an empty aeroplane flight - they still pay for the same amount of fuel - here they are promoting people to use their phones when the network is idle so that they can at least generate some revenue.

what happened to the call rates for the various Prepaid and Contract packages on the vodacom.co.za site?

I can't seem to find any?

I have a MTN phone and a Vodacom phone. Vodacom's package seems to offer better rates but in my area MTN always seem to have some discount while Vodacom since yesterday was 0%.

Currently MTN = 20%
Vodacom = 0%

VODACOM shows signs of crack

How mighty David went on to his knees before a young one, My Vodacom experienced it the hard way, but there's just no better way. I've been loyal to this "giant" but my loyalty is getting shaken. 1st was the dodgey competitions & now i must say that the new promise of 99% discount is bull after comparing with the benchmark. but how stupid I was to switch just after seeing the advert on paper. compare & see b4 switching, change network & save

Vodacom is excessively expensive

vodacom also hide the cost information because comparison can sway others away from them, I used vodacom since 2003 as a student until I worked. but still they got comfortable with exploiting South African consumers on pricing, they set the standard and now it's difficult to go down and meet us halfway. come on my vodacom, shed the pride and acknowledge that we don't have resources to be considered elite or top end consumers.

Agree, Well done to both Vodacom & MTN.
Now we can have more accidents as people check what discount (if any) they will (or may) receive. Just another distraction.
And suddenly there is expertise and all available to implement this marketing cr@p, while CONtract data users still suck the hind t_t with delayed usage stats and missing usage sms's.
The only thing positive may be that a discount suggests spare capacity, which may reduce the 'network busy' message or less chance of the call being dropped. May also confirm that the network still experiences congestion?? Anybody query it - and the answer will be a statistical maze - like gambling machines... Heads we win, tails you lose.
Why can't they do something honourable like adjusting the call-termination fees to something realistic and get their fica in order to stop assisting criminals:mad:

Well this has only managed to confuse the **** outof me.

This is a very nice way to rip off ppl further, but making them believe they are offered more value for money.

whateva

Can't help but to love the eternal optimism of our beloved fellow forumites. :)

When prices are too high, people complain, when prices drop, or discounts are offered, people complain.

When there is no competition to Telkom, people complain, when Neotel launches, people complain.

Maybe LancelotSA has a point, have we become a nation of complainers?

i dont mind paying more but then fix those DAMN network busy errors, just not dialing at all, dropped calls and endless data card problems that is driving me crazy. someone mentioned on the forum some time ago that it's just getting worse and i agree. it does seem that im finding it more and more diffucult to make a call and to complete that call without losing signal in urban areas.
