I think OS hardware merits its own list. I also intended to keep this list focused on FLOSS applications and do that well (which is why I haven't included distro's apart from a couple of specialised ones like Security Onion.)
Please don't think of this as my list - you of all people have contributed at least as much as I have, if not more. I know I have couple of opinions about what should be included but that is mainly to promote quality Open software versus proprietary freeware.
