ZA Cloud Standing

We are including VPS for general purpose Ipwn4. Afterall its the highest current virtual service required by local business.

No physical servers are included.
 
As far as I can see they only use hertzner for dedicated server which is not a big deal in my opinion. They are managing it so they would install any software you needed as far as I believe. What was told to me over email to mihost. Hertzner don't install services.

Their VPS solutions look to be theres. And I was surprised I emails them and a few minutes later I had a reply. So I might move my servers there, if there support is the same as what I recieved.

I looked on their site and saw their VPS services have unlimited bandwidth and high amounts of ram for a good price. I will need to email them and double check there offers. Thank you for making this post :)

Nope I havent. The economics of scale have not worked in their favour enough for them to be on my radar. I have however read about the nuclear bunker one of my hosts Bahnhof exists in.
 
I wonder if a forum mod can't like pin this. Not sure what it's called but there is some great info here and maybe we can request for it to be pinned (please tell me what it's called??)

So in weeks time people don't have to scroll down to see info on VPS and cloud solutions.

All one post wonders should also be ignored...
As FFF4Skin mentioned, if you want to punt your company/solutions put your money where your mouth is and offer FFF4Skin a free demo, that way the community can evaluate and users who are known not to represent one of the companies listed can offer a fair opinion.

Huh?? I only have one post coz in new to mybroadband. I been on other forums but friend told me about mybroadband and everyone being on it?

I do agree, demos would be nice. I'll email mihost just now and see if I can get a demo. Great idea thanks Ipwn.

EDIT: also will try other demos to see how other places fair. Sorry forgot to add that...

Now all thats left is to construct a barrage of tests to facilitate a benchmark.

For now we do not qualify single posts as feedback, but any comments you have is more than welcome. I am sure many will appreciate our efforts as I do yours.

We are still waiting on a demo account from oceanhost as they mentioned in a previous comment.

Just doing some final tweaks after the upgrade, will have this ready to test by Wednesday :-)
 
VPS is at best a horrible compute solution, fixed pricing, not on demand, doesn't offer auto-scaling, generally lacks APIs, I mean I could carry on for hours as to why you can't even compare a VPS to the compute part of a cloud.

However I think saying the VPS is in any way close to a cloud offering is very silly. To me that is like saying because I have an engine (and a shoddy one at that), I have a car.

I haven't seen anything remotely compelling locally in terms of cloud computing...

Just my opinion on the whole matter.
