384 Kbps to 1 Mbps Upgrades

I have been upgraded from 384 Kbps to 1 Mbps this morning. I had to call 10210 to put me on the 1 meg profile , after see seeing that my speed was 1mbps on the telkom adsl checker page. I am in Isipingo, Durban

You normally phone 10210 to upgrade your line. Doesn't mean you going to pay the same price. They will probably charge you the old 1Mbps price.
 
I called 10210 only after seeing that my speed was 1mbps on the telkom adsl checker page whereas previously it was 384Kbps. This occured without me asking for an upgrade. My adsl line is not with Telkom but with another isp.

OK then it is interesting. Means they are already upgrading 384 lines.
 
After reading this post, I did exactly the same in Sea Point, Cape Town - successfully upgraded :)
 
Yep, my ADSL checker says the same thing, I am also on the 1Mbps speed now, but router is still 384kbps, will restart the router later and see what happens otherwise i'll call Telkom tomorrow morning and ask for the upgrade. :D

Just restarted the router, still 384kbps.

Will call them first thing tomorrow.

Can confirm that restarting your router won't help. I had the exact same experience as OP - speed checker said 1Mbps and router was still syncing at 384 until the Telkom consultant changed my profile. You'll just need to call and ask.
 
all 384 customers are upgraded to 1Meg line. you have to phone telkom for update that line stats. its not auto thingy.
 
Just called Telkom and they told me that they dont do ADSL upgrades on Sundays and that I must call the ADSL Telkom number not 10210??

What number should I call?

same number and speak to adsl tech support ........... but only on monday:D
 
That's Telkom for you .... they were not expecting so many calls, so they helped the few that phoned.... but once it started getting busy, all of a sudden it's the wrong number & day. :whistle:

Hey, it seems that my line has already been upgraded today. My router's still syncing at 384K.

Restarting your router won't help! :(

Should I call Telkom tomorrow or just wait for them to fix it?
 
I called them now. Apparently there is a fault with my port at the exchange. It refuses to be upgraded to 1Mbps, yet adslchecker says that I'm a 1Mbps user.

They've logged the fault. Will have to wait a few days :cry:

LOL, you got them to do something on a Sunday, I just called and were told to call tomorrow. WTF!!! :mad:
