I am REALLy at the end of tether with Telkom.

The line has been down now for 3 weeks, but the ADSL part has bee (sort of) functioning. :mad:

PROBLEM:

My question is this; Is it possible to do your OWN repairs to the box that sits at the top of the wooden telephone pole? :confused:

REASONING:

Surely it can't be that difficult, it's not like telkom have super genius electronic engineers from Stanford University ? :rolleyes: :rolleyes:

LEGALITY:

Screw the legality of it, if Telkom don't fulfill their side of the service agreement, I'm gonna do it and forget about Telkom. :mad:

OK after some research, I have found the tools the techs use during installation and repair.

Here they are;

77HP Tracer (Pulse generator)
200EP (Line Probe)
Compact DSP (Telephone handset tester thing).

If you ever wanna find the fault on your line, these tools could help you do it.

Haha imagine starting a business that does this for people... A third party telephone repair service because telkom's own service is incompetent.
Quite intense potential there :) if only it was legal to intervene into Telkom's territory :P

I'd like to know that, what are the legalities involved?
