 Has anyone seen this issue, i finally got my ADSL Line installed, had to move to do so, anyway. I am now in wendywood, and i had a 4mb line installed this morning, i then got a semi shaped account from axxess.

On connecting and testing my line speed i only get around 400kbit/s about 48-52KB/s which is a 512k line down speed.

on my router i have the following

Downstream Rate: 4096 Kbps
Upstream Rate: 512 Kbps
Downstream Margin: 11 db
Upstream Margin: 14 db
Downstream Line Attenuation: 45
Upstream Line Attenuation: 26

But i cant get anything over a 52kb/s download.

i had a 4mb line about 2 years ago, but when i moved to sunninghill there were no telkom lines.

Now i finally get a new one and it performs like a car with only 1 of the 6 cylinders actually firing.

I have logged the call with telkom, they say its 4096 from their side as well.
Surely if my line was not capable of running at 4096 my attenuation and margins would be out, but i checked and the above should give me exactly 3896+

anyone with any insight on this?

Great, thanks for the info.

I have called and logged an update re the results on the site. (Replacing exchange termination card)

thanks.
