Sony’s new Bravia pricing

80k for a tv? holy crap.... you can buy a decent second hand car with that kind of cash.

lol X series sony bravia tv is nowhere near entry level... X cannot be compared to the S series!

It's almost xmas and I know if you all put some money together, you will be able to buy it for me. :D

Let me go get myself one. I have a few $ floating around and I don't know what to do with it really.

another advert....not interested ffs if I had R80k too throw around a "better tv" is quite low on the list of priorities, and I think most people that wanted HD has HD, and isn't going to quickly fork out more money now for another HD just cause its slightly better

Pioneer Kuro's put Sony X series to shame. Those are Plasma sets btw and have the best contrast around. No Bravia for me, just Panasonic, Pioneer or Hitachi. And Plasma not LCD.

:(
Very disappointing thread. :(
I thought prices were coming down.
I want one so bady.
The 40" one for 13k at Macro etc, is on my shopping list.

dammit

cruel thread :(

No where in the article did it say the X series was entry level. Nor was the X series at any point compared to the S series.

It simply stated that for 35K for the entry level X-series (The 40" is the Xseries' entry level set) it is an expensive range.

And @mole, its hardly an advert. What adverts that you know of question whether the product is worth the price? If its an ad then its a crap one

That's the MSRP. Techmall has that set for R28K.

Anyone wanting a high end set should rather get a Pioneer, Pany or Hitachi.
Pioneer has best contrast, Hitachi will have best upscaling and Panasonic
is just overall the best rated brand by Domestic consumers in Japan. Pany
is also supplying the plasma panels for the other 2.

For people who want LCD, look at SHARP.

Sony’s Bravia televisions traditionally cater to high-end consumers and are known to offer impressive visual quality at premium prices.

Definitely at that pricing

+1 i agree, just thought yipee i can scrape some money together and get us a nice HDTV...

To only be dissapointed

Sony’s Motionflow technology operates at 100Hz and is able to deliver 100 frames per second, which if implemented as advertised will provide exceedingly smooth playback.

Interesting when I stated this in the past some specific member disputed the fact vigourously.
Must just be me I presume as usual.

I would love to have the 52" but then will have to sell the house.

/running to the "camp" nearby to see if the affordable "housing" got free electricity connections as yet.
