Modern Warfare 2 sells 7 million copies on day one

tremendously, people that vowed not to buy the game are giving in A DAY AFTER IT'S RELEASE! I mean come on, you gamers are the worst activists I know :/

lmao... well it couldve been 8 million copies bought?

More like pacifists:( Guess that means no dedicated servers:(

The game is very good, the SP story is very short (just like COD4:MW) but the story compacts and it gets very hectic very fast.
Before you know it, the story gets AWESOME and you go WOW and bam... it's over, sucky, but ag, it's what you get from IW hey :)
Would love to try this game out online, but on Neotel, doubt that will work at all.

Is it really worth buying if you can't play online?

why did people want to boycott it in the first place?

No dedicated servers mean we need to connect on the international net.

I heard from friends that the wireless guys are battleing to get even a decent ping thus its useless on the wireless. Adsl is apparently a better option. But there is so many mixed reviews that I am a bit confused still.

I use VC 3g, and while playing with local people the gameplay is fine. Found some lag here and there, but thats it, otherwise, I had alot of fun.

Some Points to ponder

1) Is it confirmed or merely claimed sales figures?
2) Another article mentions only 12% of that was PC sales, and I believe the boycott was a PC gamer thing due to no dedicated servers.
3) That other article also says that there are major issues with the xbox and PS3 versions which wil be patched.
4) First day sales are not made because a game is good (people have not yet had a chance to give feedback) they are made big because of a successful advertising campaign and media hype.

So once all the hype has died down, and there is a ton of hands on reviews and relevant feedback pertaining to us in SA, then I will decide whether or not I should get this. At the moment, I am being patient and seeing what happens.

1) Is it confirmed or merely claimed sales figures? even with a 10% variance band to account fo...even 20%, it's still impressive sales figures
2) Another article mentions only 12% of that was PC sales, and I believe the boycott was a PC gamer thing due to no dedicated servers. Yep, and not only was it only 12%, there's obviously a large % that bought, about 2% or so that committed to the boycott and from that 2% , guys that still bought it or bought it for console....
3) That other article also says that there are major issues with the xbox and PS3 versions which wil be patched. PS3 had no trophies out of the box. Patched wednesday, but then servers went down, i think it was something related to the patch, but heard they are back up
4) First day sales are not made because a game is good (people have not yet had a chance to give feedback) they are made big because of a successful advertising campaign and media hype. The advertising campaign and hype is usually built around a good game, there is so much exposure to the contents of a game before it's released that very few can say that bought it purely on advertising and hype, most titles are released as demo's (MW2 wasn't) but there was enough gameplay vid's released....looked awesome, sold awesomely and is actually awesome

You're a better man than I am, patience is a virtue...I saw UC2 being sold a few days after sales day because people were done with it, but MW2 ...nothing and i doubt you'll find anyone selling their copy...it's a keeper!
