MTN Prepaid – Balance Check / Startup issue … on E220 Modem

Further to my original queries :

I’ve managed to load the latest updates to my modem since installing a Prepaid SIM yesterday, something I was unable to achieve while I was on contract up to a year ago. (know the reason for it, at that time).
Modem working fine except for **** below.
However, for now I’d like to know, when I click on relevant icon which brings up window for ‘’Balance’’, ‘’Load Airtime’’ & ‘’Purchase Bundles’’ , and then ‘’Check Balance’’, the airtime & bundles window pops up with latest balances (obviously what I want), but above that is an error window headed up :

Mocrosoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Buffer Overrun detected!
(Summary of main msg.) - … buffer overrun detected …. corrupted program’s internal state … program cannot safely continue … must now be terminated.

Anyone who can explain in simple terms (easy to understand) – I’m not that good on troubleshooting, especially MTN related issues – how I can easily get rid of this message(?), or just forget about it, as I’m able to get balances I want without having to take SIM out each time & put into a phone (which in the past was a real pain) – seen old posts on this very topic in the forum.
Could this have something to do with way modem now starts-up due to conflict between old & new software updates (note below). (didn’t happen before when running old software version)

**** - When I put single USB into computer for first time, it goes to the wizard every time wanting to set up the language (English – United States) etc. I close that & simply click on modem icon. Then it finds SIM etc & carry on from there…
How do I get that Wizard to not open up each time?

Do you still have both versions of the software installed on your PC? Try uninstalling both and then installing only the new dashboard.

As a work-around you can try disabling autorun or preventing the modem from being assigned a drive letter, either should stop the Wizard opening up when you plug in the modem. See here.

Thanks for all the info. - having spent the last hour on all the above (incl. the details provided for in your other post), I've found that I'm back 'at square one' - everything I described in my post is happening (i.e. startup wizard comes up, regardless of whether I have the settings you listed or not / Buffer Overrun detected! message still pops up).
Will just live with it on this computer (XP) & see if on laptop (Vista) it's any better. As MTN is not my primary ISP & will only be used occasionally, it's not something I'll be concerned with, but thought I'd at least enquire as to whether thes 'bugs' could be fixed. Thx. once again.
