Big news from ATI. The Canadian hardware manufacturer has announced their new X1000 graphics card series, which includes the X1800, X1600 and X1300 chipsets. The prices range from $549 for the fastest model to $79 for the slowest.
It is said that the company invested around 4 million Canadian dollars into an aggressive ad campaign that specifically targets NVIDIA's latest line of video cards. The TV ad shows a really drunk guy in a moose suit saying, "Our card is X1000... BETTER THAN YOURS, YOU HOSERS!!"

Anyway, as for availability, Radeon X1800 XL, X1300 Pro, and X1300 should be available in stores over seas as we speak, while the top end Radeon X1800 XT and the mid-range cards should be available mid-November and end of November respectively.
My favorite hardware site, AnandTech, has a review up already, and it looks like NVIDIA is edging out as the winner on a good number of performance tests, but this all depends on how high the screen resolution was set in the test, as the new high-end card from ATI has 512MB of video RAM on it. This makes it scale especially well at high resolutions. Of course, there is also the small matter of X1800 XT not actually being available in retail for another month or so.
