R68.40/Gig - Is that the cheapest price

Hi everyone

We've opted to go for a regular SAIX per-gig account. I've done a bit of looking round, and the cheapest price I can get is R 68-40 per gig. Does anyone know of a cheaper price than this (other than an IS or datapro 'business ADSL' package')?

That no longer applies from 1 Nov. It appears they are R 69.00 per meg from tomorrow.

Thru which ISP did you get this ?
 
It looks like Imaginet changed their mind - according to their website, they now start at 2Gb for R140. Am I missing something here?

Yup. R5-R10 should be the target price, but then again that would mean Telkom takes a 12,000% knock on their markup.

Best bet would be to get a 10 Gig account @ R349 and use the top up @ R69 / Gig. This is a SAIX based account.

That price seems suspiciously cheap. Is there anything stopping me from buying 10 of those for R 3490? Is that price excl or incl?
 
Ok, I just check SAOL.COM, and it looks legit and it's including VAT. R 349.00 is way cheaper than anyone else's SAIX accounts for 10GB. I wonder how they're managing this pricing. :confused:

The way I understand Imaginets pricing is that you purchase whichever Freestyle package you want and then once you've used your bandwidth you then purchase however much you need for R6.00 something per 100MB.

So if you chose their Freestyle 3000 package for R222 (incl) you can then buy extra 100MB for R7.40 (incl).

I much, much prefer Web Africa's way of doing things. You can purchase 1GB Prepaid for R75 (incl) and whatever bandwidth you don't use can get carried over to the next month. By far the most fair solution. All accounts should be like this.

R 74 per gig vs R 34.90 per gig? Doesn't seem to be as good value to me.

Absolutely :)

I wasn't comparing it to SAOL's deal. That obviously is the best deal so far. But like most everyone else, I'm a little sceptical - it seems way too good to be true. (Sorry Pedantic - you are a good guy :) ).
