Should I buy a RAT gaming mouse?

My old Logitech G500 is end of life. I've "patched" it with glue and stuff for the last few months, but it's finally decided to stop working.

I'm looking at getting a RAT. Prices seem to be quite reasonable, BUT, are these mice worth it?

I'm looking at the RAT 7 as I'm not to keen to go wireless. Any advice?
 
Not in my opinion no having owned one that failed after a few days.

Stick to Logitech. The shape of your G500 is epic and I'm sure you love it.

Is it a G5 perhaps, considering G500 isn't that old?
 
Yeah, it was a G5, sorry. With al my searching for a new mouse I got things confused. Long live my G5! :(

Mmmmm...don't wanna spend cash on a mouse if it's going to fail on me.
 
I only use Razors for my mice, but I have considered playing with a RAT.

Any more that failed? One failure is not a good sample size, I've had one that has been going for months.
I do also half recall something about the first gen lasers being very flaky, but they (supposedly) sorted that out

edit: I sold it cause I'm too used to the shape of my G5.

Then get the G500. It's the updated model of the G5.
 
Not a big fan of the RAT at all. I just find it really uncomfortable, having used a friend's a bit. I really like the feel of my Razer Deathadder. It's nice and big and fills your hand very well if that's your sort of thing. The Logitechs are hard to beat, however.

I have bought numerous items, mouse keyboard, mobo's and they failed after a few days, according to postman if something fails it means every single one of the those items will fail hahah.

Got a couple clan mates who use the rat and moaned about it but they love it now. It also depends on the person, for me i like a simple mouse with 3 buttons and a nice grip. It also depends on the games you play but i reckon if RAt made a leftie version i would buy one.
 
I've got a Razor Deathadder at work. Never had any issues with it, now that I think of it. I don't really view it as a gaming mouse though. Maybe cause I use it for work. I'll take it home and see how it performs.
 
Steel Series sensei. They are bringing out the RAW edition next month that has the processor removed. I'm also in the market for a new mouse, and the RAT in my opinion is the greatest looking piece of hardware ever. But I think the steelseries has an edge over it. It's a tough decision man. Will be looking here to see what other users have to say.

Going by online, there are plenty of failures. One of the axises would die during games.

Another thing. Logitech lasers work much better if you ever lift your mouse slightly off the pad/surface. RAT laser simply cannot track as well as Logitech.

That's what caught my attention. It looks like something from a batman movie. Really impressive to look at, but I need something that also performs well. I should maybe go test it first, somewhere.
 
Mouses are all the same once you get used to them.. I use a RAT, struggled with it in the beginning but once your used to the grip it works well... pretty sure it would be the same as if I switched from the RAT to my previous mouse now. Get the wired one if you do, wireless is too heavy IMO.

It's definitely an awesome looking thing, when people ask me about it I tune them it was custom made out of one of terminators testicals.

There are plenty of reasons why I feel the RAT 7 is inferior to my Logitech G9x. I bought both and used what I liked. Thankfully the RAT died so I was able to sell the replacement as new and did not lose as much cash. One only needs to Google to find loads of RAT problems with their lasers, as Archer mentioned. If you cannot handle this then you need nappies instead of panties.

RAT is a good concept that suits medium and larger hands. I used it at its stock settings, of which the shape is similar to Logitech G9x, so I didn't benefit from any customisation.

The RAT developed tracking issues after two days. Starcraft 2 unplayable as the horizontal axis would virtually disappear, only allowing me to move cursor upwards. Swapped back and was done with it.

The Logitech is a better mouse for me. If I could take anything from the RAT it would be its superior scroll wheel which is much easier to click than the G9x when Hyperscrolling is set to click, and its sniper button which reduces sensitivity on the fly.

RAT + Logitech laser + Logitech buttons (especially side scrolling) + Hyperscrolling would be a winner. :)

I remember trying one at rage like 2 or 3 years ago before they were released in the country, and I fell in love with it. Feels right in the hands. Love the weight of it as well. The tracking is the only thing that puts me off. I play with lifting the mouse off the pad often, so it will hinder me if I carry on playing that. Could always switch my style a bit.
 
I was thinking about replacing my PC gaming platform with a console. A lot less hassle and cheaper over the long run. But that's a completely different discussion. I'm not quite there yet.
