SA unemployment swells

One assumes this is based on the Govt's artificial "actively looking for work" criterion. The real figure is undoubtedly much higher - 40-50% if you count those who have given up looking for whatever reason.
 
I can remember a thread about how good it is going just a few months ago.

Governments cant really create jobs (To any sustainable extent). The private sector creates jobs, the government just creates the climate wherein the private sector operates.
And SA is just a tiny fish in a big global recession. The ability to effect the climate is very limited.
Any hope of meaningful increase in to the employment figures in the next 2 years unlikely

not really, there are thousands of qualified people who are sitting at home doing nothing because there are no jobs... simple...

i have a degree and i spent a year struggling to find employment because there was none...

as thinkers, we have to look at things differently when contributing to a discussion, not just throw one-liners... we need to improve the quality of debate, or at least try :(

sometime you find that some job markets are saturated, sometimes you find that the market is struggling to absorb employees because there is simply no money to pay for these individuals.

sometimes there isn't enough economic activity to create more jobs in specific sectors, these may be caused by decrease in export demand, stiff global competition etc

and we have to always remember that no matter the level one one's education... there is always a job out there for everyone... obviously the less educated you are... the less glamorous job you will get

Nah, Government actually spends a disproportional amount on Education in SA.
What we need to do is get rid of SADTU. That is where the blockage occurs
 
The Gov has to have AA because how on earth are they going to create skilled to highly skilled jobs??

Don't agree with AA though.
