40Mbps broadband from Telkom: register your interest

Telkom hasnt even upgraded my exchange to 10mb yet (Kensington - Jhb), now im applying for 40mb. Lol, ill do it anyways, but im not holding thumbs for 2015.

FWIW my line has been upgraded to 10Mbps but the telkom availability and speed checker still shows the max speed in my area as 4Mbps

You have to choose a Telkom Internet product on the request form... Lame

I wish I was stuck at 4Mbps. That would be an improvement.

What is a VDSL router?and what does it cost?and the FTTX?what hardware do you require.

They should set a limit over speed costs.1,2,4,10 and when a new product is availeble 4,10,20,40
and 10,20,40,80 if its upgraded again.not to get a increase from 384 to 1mb must pay more for uncapped telkom is not developing new technology...Its copying redundent castoff's
Yes it costly to lay new infrastructure but im not going to pay R4000 for a 20Mb line.
And them google supplies a 1000Mb line and unshaped uncapped Single pipe for R600

Ja, sorry... I'm not doing that.

Yep, I am not keen on that, want to stay with Afrihost.

Exactly, I was keen until I saw that rubbish.

In addition, I just realised that the Telkom product names are horrible, they explain nothing. I think they intentionally try to confuse people into buying them.

Very cool - is there a link to this lead generator?

I don't know why MyBB doesn't do this. They never do external links. They'd rather have the readers think they give half articles. I'd imagine most people would read the heading, then scan for the link like I did.

I like the concept ...

That said - given that Telkom's ADSL prices are kind of on the rise whilst Telkom's competition's prices are dropping - at what price ?

I've applied for the 40MB option - It's a pity you have to select a data product with it on registration. I'm only interested in getting the line from telkom.

People forget that the majority of ADSL data cost comes from the IPC model. When the MSAN project is in full swing you will see much lower prices for the 20mb and 40mb packages per mb. They will have more capacity, which means each mb will be cheaper - I believe they will be aiming for a R900 a month top package uncapped (including free minutes on your landline).
