MacBook Pro Retina 2.7GHz 15" with 16GB RAM available yet?

My Macbook Pro was recently stolen, so my company is paying for the updated 2.7 MBPr. We ordered 2, however, the supplier said they will only become available in South Africa the first or second week in March. The stock to South African iStores are already on route. (Apparently)

I do hope they arrive earlier, because, currently, I am stuck using an Asus dual core, trying my best to suck its last bit of energy to power Revit 2013...
If you can't imagine, its very very annoying...

Hope you get one sooner than later! They truly are magnificent, and the screen is just ridiculous...

I'm also waiting for it. But according to all the websites (Digicape, Myistore), it is still the old version. I suspect they are trying to get rid of the old stock first, but only giving R2000 saving on it.
 
Thanks for the responses guys. I got hold of someone at Core who confirmed that there's an order coming in soon with those new machines.
I'm also hoping it arrives sooner rather than later
 
It seems that the new MBPs are now available at the iStore, but here's the catch. Firstly, is priced at R 31 999. That is R2000 more expensive than the previous models, but it doesn't seem to be an increase to the price by Apple. Also, iStore (Core) is trying to get rid of the older stock by selling the MBP 15" Retina + 8GB + 2.6Ghz at R27999 and you also get a Apple TV. So, I need to pay R2000 (R4000 if you take the discount price) for an extra 8GB memory and 0,1Ghz upgrade. And by buying this, you don't even get an Apple TV. It makes more sense to buy the older version, upgrade the memory (can't do it aftermarket) and get the Apple TV. And my gut feeling says it will still be close to the R31 999 and all you lose is 0.1Ghz.

If I was to get it I'd get it on a Vodacom/MTN contract. It makes paying it off easier. You only pay *slightly* more over the 24 months (not 36, I confirmed) than buying it cash, and you get some data with it.

But, obviously... Contract pricing for these aren't released as yet.

Still, it seems like a lot more for an extra 8GB of RAM. I know you can't upgrade it, but is the extra 8GB really going to make that much of a difference?
 
My wife is currently (ab)using my 17" MBP with 8GB memory. If you do a lot of Illustrator, Photoshop etc., more memory is better.

But again R2000 for 8GB and +0.1Ghz. Nope, unless you can get 5% student discount + maybe squeeze out a bit more by paying with a Discovery card (up to 10% off, but it is a tricky calculation). Then you should get close to the R29999.

(And I will also argue for an Apple TV)
 
I think that Discovery Card deal ended, now 12 months to pay it off interest free I think. Which is probably a better deal than the old one.

Interesting. It just disappeared. You could get up to 10% off (with about 200 rules to it).

Ye, my laptop started ageing so earlier this year I was looking at the 13" rMBP because with a student discount + 20% Vitality discount (on diamond for Vitality) it really worked out to be affordable. Then after a bit of investigation it turned out the 20% only applied to the first R10000. So it was really like a 13% discount total which was just not worth it.
