Angry Beware Neotel SUCKS!! - Waiting for a solution from them.

    Hi Guys...

So u think telkom's ADSL is bad........ What about any of the 3G providers... Iburst? Let me tell u Neotel beats them all... The biggest rubbish I have come across. The best is that they don't even have a Neotel number themselves. So my 1000 free min I can't even use to call them I have to pay them to use telkoms toll free number..... Ports are locked, the big crap device must have been a clear out from some 5th world country. The support call desk does not work. Crap. Rubbish. Waste of time. Man these guys should not be allowed to sell this crap at all.... Ho well let me carry on fighting...

Ref to Neotels site that their ports are all open:

Sounds like efons meant that they're throtting/shaping/choking certain ports over their network.

I'd be interested to hear about port shaping on their network - and if they're up-front about it.

I only use my DSL for SSH, HTTP/HTTPS and gmail so I'm not too stressed on the other ports. Even if they only gave me port 22 I would just portforward from our office - getting uncapped next week there.

Currently I'm on Telscum and iBubbles (backup).

Just signed my soul to Neotel tonight so I'm cruzing for a Neotel bruising in all the threads - OK that was damn corney.

Ports will be opened upon request. Neotel blocks incomming connections for "security" reasons. This issue has been delt with in another thread and the rep has also posted an update on this in the FAQ section.

Sounds like someone should have done their homework before putting pen to paper. Sounds like all his issues have already been discussed at length on these forums.

Here's some advice given to everyone else. If you don't like it: move.
We have 8 providers, and a host of WISPS, I'm sure you'll find another company FAR better than Neotel, if you are that unhappy with them.

Consumers must learn to vote with their feet.

what sux is that i can't get coverage, and that they dont have rev A yet.

an expresscard mini rev A card with data only option even if it was R500 more once off, would also be great.

I think that blocking ports is a good thing. I have no need for incoming connections so why open myself up to the security risk? You give them a call and they unblock them. As easy as that...
