Thread: MTN BIS Issues today

  1. #1

Thumbs down MTN BIS Issues today

Since midnight my Blackberry bold haven't been to get online at all. It shows the 3G icon as well as the B at the top right but no luck. And obviously I have a signal. Just not able to browse, use gtalk, email etc at all.

    Anyone else having issues today?

PS and I have shut it down, removed the battery and left it for several hours.

Lucky you on Vodacom my BIS service has been useless since a got it almost a year ago. Look at the bright side, it could be worse .

Noticed a general slowdown on weekdays for the past two weeks but only on downloading, no problems otherwise.

Well I've had a problem with the internet on my BB for about a month now... No one at MTN can tell me what the problem is. I've done the battery pull, reformatted the device. And I'm still getting a download speed of 1kb/s, if I'm lucky. And eventually the download fails. I have full 3G connection, with the B next to it. The only other option as the call centre told me is to send my phone in, and then wait for who know's how long before i get told there's nothing we can do, here's a new one. I have tested this in all regions of Gauteng, from the Vaal, to Alberton, OR Thambo, Fourways and PTA, and nothing changes.

I've had my BB next to an identical BB on MTN, and it's internet works, downloads of 120kb/s, which i wasn't getting with mine when it was working, i was lucky to get 30kb/s.

Any other thoughts on this? Or should I bite the bullet and just send the thing in?

Seems like this is becoming a problem, as more and more posts are appearing regarding MTN BIS being slooww.

Lets keep these all in one place to determine just how wide spread the issue is.

There is already a thread started, so please post _only_ MTN BIS performance/speed tests there.

I just hope that this is not going to turn out like what happened with VC last year
    Astound - enough plugging already

Their capacity to RIM's NOC is most likely congested due to a massive uptake of Blackberry subs. Not so different to what Vodacom has gone through.
