Deon Liebenberg
Deon Liebenberg is currently the Head of Telkom Business Mobile at Telkom.
He was previously the Managing Director for Samsung South Africa and served as Managing Director: Africa at Research In Motion Limited.
Deon will however be joining Samsung Electronics in a senior executive role from July 2011.
Deon Liebenberg has more than 15 years of experience in the telecom industry, earned working at some of the country's leading operators and service providers as well as at multinational and South African telecom vendors. He joined Research In Motion from Motorola's mobile device division, where he was the country sales director for South Africa.
Before joining Motorola, Liebenberg worked at Vodacom, where he filled various sales and commercial roles and was most recently executive head of sales. During his career, Liebenberg has held a number of sales and business development positions in the telecommunications environment.
Liebenberg's career includes assignments in a number of European countries. He has had exposure to the telecom market at consumer, prosumer, enterprise, service provider and operator levels and is looking to grow RIM's presence in each of these markets.
As the regional director for Research In Motion (RIM) in Sub Sahara Africa, Deon Liebenberg is responsible for growing RIM's Sub Sahara African business, building awareness of the BlackBerry smartphone brand in Sub Sahara Africa, and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders within the mobile service provider environment.
Liebenberg holds a Bachelor of Economics from the University Of Orange Free State as well as a Bachelor of Business Management and Administration and a Master in Business and Administration from the University Of Stellenbosch.
