Yes, I usually get full speeds on my Mweb 1 meg during the day. Pushed 164 gigs last month without even trying.

Applied for the uncapped special at rage this weekend, called today to follow up, and now they cannot find any trace of the order. I probably should not have expected anything better from Telkom

@frobbertze, you should have a reference number, speak to someone who sounds more "capable" .

Although not unheard of before, you will get lucky ....do keep us posted please.

The Telkom rep I spoke to said the uncapped accounts are not shaped anymore than their capped accounts. They use throttling as opposed to shaping, in order to curb abuse.

Chances are they have not entered your order into the system yet. I'm guessing people signed up via pen and paper @ rage, and so they would have to manually add hundreds of applications to their system today.

Thanks all. Lets see now what there site says......

I do not know how it is called UnCapped. This should be a Limited Internet Service.

Uncapped - Unlimited Internet, Full Speed 24x7, No Shapping. etc....

    Oh welll.

Has anyone got this yet and any luck....

Uncapped is relative. I think the point is that there is no cap. This has been debated over and over literally to death, so I won't go any further than what I have.

I will stick with my current uncapped shaped account as I get full speed on the things that matter to me...

Sorry? Why would I want to trial a new product that could go FUBAR when I have no problem with my MWEB uncapped. The guy I spoke to at Rage was of the same mind as he's not sure how well this product will work.

They should not have a problem with capacity, My problem is why are they more expensive that our current uncapped accounts. This obviously not aimed at being competitive as usual.

    Because there isn't shaping.

Their 4MB & 10MB accounts are aimed at Business users, announcement is imminent before end of Oct for a consumer priced 4MB account. Their 1MB & 384 is fairly priced. It isn't only about pricing but the kind of performance that goes with it.

Yes MWEB has great performance but there are users with issues.
OW is great with performance but there are users with issues.
    Same with Afrihost etc

Now we wait patiently for Telkom's verdict which i believe will be pleasantly satisfactory.

Remember this isn't a NEW network the product is being launched on so it goes without saying in that respect

    Sorry about delay.

I dont use speedtest as its a load of ****, but in any case the speedtests where not that amazing when testing against a cape town server, had 45ms and like 60kB/s download that was 10mins ago. I am currently downloading from my FTP in the states at 61-67kB/s constant. Obviously its not 10pm yet. So far im happy with this product im not a download whore i dont need the entire internet. This beats openweb and mweb hands down in my eyes right now purely for reliability. I believe that IS is WAY over subscribed hence all the issues people are having currently

Worth mentioning i did the test against web africas server.. and well they have gone down the drain with regards to quality.
