Neotel is trialing LTE, discusses plans

I was just wondering, what are the chances of Neotel applying for a mobile network licence? But then, an equally important question is: can they bring drastic changes in prices?

Easy to trial with Huawei - you just feign big interest (as an operator) and let them import, install and commission the test equipment and help do the tests. What would be more interesting is to know what Neotel are doing on their side and whether they already have a business case for it ready to go if trial goes well.

Part of the business case is probably the free equipment from Huawei...

Problem is.. their brand is taking a hit, ask anyone about neotel on the road and you will hear of lesser quality network, bad experiences calling people on the neotel network etc. they'd need to pull off a cell-c/mweb style game changer to make a big imapact and with it being a new tech, less people would adopt. That being said, they have to get onto common equipment else no one takes the risk of the hardware lockin

Oh thank **** for that!! Finally a possible end to their crappy CDMA! Neotel please just don't use the throwaway equipment you will no doubt be offered super cheap, maybe worth a discussion with Alcatel and Ericsson so you can get some sort of quality...

Anyone know how much 800 spectrum they have?

Yes, go to Ericsson :D

Any further news on this, seeing that the other operators are about ready with LTE?
