After being fed up with the poor customer service that Telkom has provided when we have been having problems, our small business has decided that we need to switch ISPs.

We have been using Telkoms Home DSL 512 them as an ISP and 2 email addresses from Telkom and are considering switching to Web Africa. The problem is that we have been using the Telkom email addresses for our business and are very dependant on email in the business.

If we change ISPs would we still be able to keep the emails, would these be lost or is there any other option like forwarding/redirecting the emails.

Also is there anything else that should be considered when changing ISPs like this?

thanks.

kinda like phone number portability.

Are you sure Telkom wont offer you an email box at X amount a month?

get your own domain

The best route to go is to get yourself a domain name where you can setup your own email addresses and then you can change ISP’s without losing your email accounts. Another way would be to get a Gmail account, but then you don’t have any say on the account if Google should decide to charge for the account or stop the service.

Rule #1:
never use an ISP domain as part of your email address.

Rule #2:
Read Rule #1 again.

yeah, I use my @mrg.za.net domain for -email... best option for you
