HTC First Facebook Home phone future uncertain

Me neither.

I am not a Facebooker. I would hate my phone to be taken over by Facebook.

BUT ...

Facebook is onto something here that I believe is going to be exploited by many more ... create own versions of TouchWiz and Sense to create an OS that looks different and works somewhat different but still runs all the Android apps out there. It makes a lot of Sense. I believe Facebook will tweak this until they get it right. It's a pendulum thing. Too much Facebook will in time get less to a nice balanced experience. It's all about allowing users to tweak how much of this layer they want to see/use. I don't think for one moment that Facebook is getting off this track. It will eventually work (no reason for it not to).
 
I expect someone to come up with a version that copies BlackBerry 10's Hub on the lock screen ... all the important user selected stuff on the lock screen without going into the OS.
 
I tried it out on my SGS3. It was ***!!! Uninstalled it within 30 seconds of installing it. No idea why they thought it would be cool? Its invasive and actually very confusing to use.

Mmmm.....this phone actually has a golden secret not many people are aware of.

When you select the default launcher on the phone, instead of Facebook Home, it does not default to HTC Sense, but plain vanilla Android!

It's like having a Nexus 4, but just in a smaller form factor. ;)

It's easy to turn off Facebook Home & then you have a stock Android phone with LTE support. ;)

Grabbed the hack off xda a few months ago or 6 weeks.
Installed it onmy Galaxy Nexus just to see what it was like - 30 seconds later it was gone.

Not a cool experience and I can just imagine what the data costs must be like having those photo feeds updating constantly.
