Ja, Well, No, Fine, still no progress in Bloemfontein ...

BUT ...

I am told that there are a few users testing 40MB/sec at a certain exchange ... , raping the torrent sites by all accounts ... :(

Ah well, ....

Im still on 4mb in Sandton..is anyone that is connected to the benmore exchange been upgraded to 10mbps?

Hi

Iam here in hurlingham (next to sandhurst) and still nothing here , i did see my modulation on router changed to adsl2+ recently so maybe something happening

Spoke to telkom guy next to the road and he said the exchange here will be upgraded soon.

Ja right next year this time maybe lol

Hey what do you know, I got upgraded today =) Line attennuation is 36, so half the time my modem will sync at like 9500kbps down, and after a few hours DL rate decreases to like 2mbps, so i'll probably end up phoning them asking if its possible to go down to 8mbps instead

Lucky, bugger :D

Bloemfontein, is still deader than a Dodo ... :(

So close...modem says I synch at 8 mbps down & 900kbps up with good SNR ratios, but , according to Telkom, my install is still listed as 'incomplete' - argggggghhhh
This is in the Rosebank/Melrose area of JHB.

If you were on ADSL2+ you could probably do better. I had ADSL2+ for a week, and it was awesome. Telkom since seem to have enforced G.Dmt on all lines. My attenuation is 28 dB (2.5km from exchange), and I'm very stable at 7Mbps.

Whoooaaaa. The availability checker status has changed to "Your exchange supports up to 10Mbps fastest ADSL. The provision of such a service is subject to port availability, distance, copper quality and line sync speed limitations."

So what now?

Do I have to phone them (0800375375) or will they change it automatically (I am currently on 4Mbps)?

Anyone?

my initial excitement over this has been trampled to death by telkom's slow speed at making the service available and then given a good kicking by the cost of the 10Mbps uncapped packages.

10Mbps seems pretty scarce even in the bigger areas :(.

Will it get here in the next decade?

when the announcement was made i was pretty sure the sunninghill exchange would surely be amongst the first to get the upgrade. experience has proved otherwise.

10 megs rocks. But my bandwidth can be all used up in a couple of days easy. 1gb at 8 minutes on a torrent.
