Seems I am still on 8mb even though I am on 10mb profile... also seems im running on ADSL1 exchange and not ADSL2 exchange
 
021 448 XXXX - Observatory area in Cape Town does "supports up to 10Mbps fastest ADSL. The provision of such a service is subject to port availability, distance, copper quality and line sync speed limitations."

I live in Table View close to Boy De Goede Cirkel and my line was upgraded... i get about 6.8 Mbps to 7 though, still better then nothing I guess :-)
 
Hyde Park - 011 325

I just spoke to one of the Operations Managers for the Rosebank/Hyde Park area and he laughed when I asked about whether I would be able to run 10mbps. He said that the Hyde Park DSLAMS are mini-DSLAMS which have backbone connections of between 1mbps to 8mbps and would never be able to support 10mbps. There is, however, one IMAX DSLAM and if you are connecting to that you may have some luck. So despite the fact I live literally in the centre of JHB and am less than 1km from the Hyde Park exchange I will not be getting 10mbps. Arrggggg........ yet everyone else around me does.

Interesting that he noted the DSLAM equipment is in perfect working order and hence there is no reason to upgrade the equipment (....despite the fact your customers are asking for infrastructure improvements).

I also live in Tableview - just off Gill Road and still nothing. What is your number? I am on 021-557****.

Did this upgrade happen by itself, or did you contact Telskum? Also - when exactly did this happen?

so who in the southern suburbs of cape town have had their lines upgraded?
cos im in bergvliet & my line is still on 4mb but from what ive read in the last 13 or so pages parts of constansia, wynberg, plumstead (021 794, 021 797, 021 762, 021 7155)have been upgraded & even parts way outside the cape town area eg. durbanville, milnerton, tableview but if i check some parts inside cape town eg. 021 426 etc i get the same error, not updgraded yet...

the problem with getting uncapped on 10mb accounts is as one of the other posts, the person said that in about a hour or so he/she used almost 15gigs.. so...
how much would one do in 720hrs?

A colleague of mine is now on 8mpbs, however is connection keeps resetting at random. Location is in Westville, near the Police Department.

My offices are based in Dawnclifee, Westville, no luck and they website hasn't helped either.

My home, in Pinetown, nothing :(

But line has still not been upgraded still on 4 megs
 
Also this was for the birchleugh exchange in kempton park, I dont think the other exchange in kp accepts 10

I was told by telkom that in a month I will get the higher speeds,,, this is a great start and we should all be happy that things are slowly starting to progress

I got an account on the 011391 exchange, Birchleigh, no luck getting it upgraded and Site checker says 10mb unavailable.. :cry:
