10 Mbps ADSL availability checker

Why would they talk about upgrading even further, if they can't even get everybody that is on 4mb to 10mb??

Is Tekom due to upgrade all DSL users in June? I mean 384k to 1mb, 1mb to 2mb and so on?

to far from exchange.Houses closer to exchange can get 4Mbps.The area i am in only 1Mbps.

Our office only get 2Mbps on a 4Mbps line for the same reason - distance from exchange.

The 10Mbps roll-out seems to be taking forever and very few people seem happy with the stability and speed after the upgrade. I hope that Telkom truly has the capacity for the 1Mbps and 2Mbps upgrades, and that it doesn't take years to complete.

Last year I had 10mbps at my closest exchange, now I get this:

I can confirm that constantia and tokai in the western cape are both full 10mb enabled.

My exchange is also 10MBps enabled but I can only get 4Mbps.

In the bout of upgrades Telkom is doing now, my line that was sinking perfectly at 4Mbps for years has been downgraded to following

DownStream Connection Speed 3136 kbps
UpStream Connection Speed 512 kbps

WAT!!!

Oh and of course calling in to ask what happend is like performing self lobotomy

I know the feeling, when Hellkom 1st upgraded the lines I synched perfectly at 10 Mbps, now over the years my line has just got worse and it barely synchs at 4 Mbps.

I had pretty much given up on 10Mbps, but a Telkom techie phoned me at work on Monday out of the blue to say he'd changed my line from a DSLAM port to a IMAP (?). I was like "Cool, thanks man".

Since then:

Connection Speed 10008 Kbps 1019 Kbps
Line Attenuation 30.2 dB 16.1 dB
Noise Margin 19.5 dB 10.3 dB
