I'm in Bloemfontein, Gardenia Park.

Nice!!! I'm sure you loving the performance bump? Such a good feeling having web pages open almost instantly without any sort of rendering, 720p youtube videos with 0 buffering etc etc etc

Yeah it's pretty amazing. Very happy with the Axxess Uncapped 4Mbit account too. I'm averaging at 950KB/s on Astraweb right now, and 720p YouTube videos buffer as fast as the 360p ones used to. Stoked :D

I had pretty much given up on 10Mbps, but a Telkom techie phoned me at work on Monday out of the blue to say he'd changed my line from a DSLAM port to a IMAP (?). I was like "Cool, thanks man".

Since then:

Connection Speed 10008 Kbps 1019 Kbps
Line Attenuation 30.2 dB 16.1 dB
Noise Margin 19.5 dB 10.3 dB

Did your attenuation go up too? Mine did when they upgraded - I think that they moved me from my DSLAM to an IMAX box a little further down the road (similar thing).

I think it went down a little actually but I can't be sure. It was definitely low 30's but I can't remember the exact number.

What's up with telkom's tools? I'm on 10mbps but this shows only 4mbps is supported. Same with the 40mbps trail checker.

Bothasig 10mbps capable. Called 10210, waited on the line a bit, resynced my router, and connected at 10mbps/1mbps :)

Now to find an decent ISP... How's TelkomInternet's uncapped doing these days? :P

Staying in Parow, had a technician come though because of a intermittent line. He said that with the new upgrades to 10mb lines for everyone, it's causing interruptions because Telkom cannot handle it yet.

Doubt it will ever be upgraded.

ADSL availability and maximum speed supported by your exchange cannot be determined at this stage, for residential please contact the ADSL call centre on 10210, for business please contact 10217.

Seems like they can't determine my maximum speed. Oh well..
