Afrihost - Anybody Experiencing Issues today?

@vaalpens
Had the same issue with 50% speeds. They could not resolve it so I resolved the issue in its entirety.

hehe glad your issue is resolved froot.

Afriman,
i dont mind doing the troubleshooting etc, but only if its for a valid reason.
if a support engineer tells me its because my line is faulty or congested after I sent him screenshots of another isp account performing 100% on the same line and modem, he might need to go back to troubleshooting school :)

i also dont mind if they tell me something is broken, if that i have reached my threshold, because that would be a valid answer, and not be beating around the bush... :)

speeds are fine today, hopefully just some seacom hiccups, i just wish Mark , Josh and Watson could tell me that :)

hmmm im so confused now, Afrihost tech support tells me I have call telkom to reset the adsl port, i call telkom, and they tell me to call afrihost to reset the port....

adsl line is not bundled with afrihost :(

Odd, Afrihost did it for me, but they manage my line.

If your line is with us (not necessarily bundled) then we should be able to do the port reset - but Telkom can also do it as the facilities are always available to them.

But rather get in touch with us, saves you some frustration :(

Afrihost support told me that there's port errors on my line and I mus get Telkom to reset the ports. Phoned Telkom and they reset the ports and I'm getting full speeds again :)

100% Agree. Troubleshooting is there to get to the heart of the problem, not to create a ping pong match. If you're running 100% on another ISP, we still need a traceroute to see where our network is falling over, but it certainly does tend to eliminate the line as the cause of the fault.

Here is my traceroute (please be aware that with other accounts my ping is fine).

Hmm, latency just went for a ball here as well (PE). Was on a webex and audio started breaking up :)

Centurion - totally stuffed!
*edit: tried afrihost uncapped and prepaid - both rubbish. SAIX fine.

We're experiencing increased latency and packet loss on the network. This may be related to the SEACOM cable outtage but we'e waiting for IS to confirm this. Will hopefully have an ETA on this very soon.

Kempton Park as well. Afrihost is very very slow. Fine on webafrica.

Afrihost crap in Somerset West 350 - 400ms ping too local game servers :( Fine on capped account Plugg so yeah fix it dammit.

Ja same here, durbanville, getting pings over 350 just to Cape Town, and over 600 on JHB Bf3 servers....

Ridiculous man...

Afrihost upgraded my line from 384kbps to 2mbit.. why?

Anyone else been lucky like me? I suppose they won't bill me for 384kbps at the end of the month unfortunately..

The upgrade should be to 1Mbps, not 2Mbps, so please PM me so I can check what happened there. If it's a genuine mistake, we'll make sure you aren't over-billed :)
