Afrihost - don't use!

Don’t you understand? When you cancel they cut you off immediately!! So do you propose I should have used my 5 Gb all on the 1st of October and then cancel (all of this on one day)??

no they done, do they?

surely you ask them to cancel your service "from the first of november" for example.

don't tell me if you give them 60+ days notice they cut you off immediately

Dude, the bunch of fanbois on this site don't (or won't) understand. I've had similar issues. Several other people also had similar issues. So it's not even worth your energy trying to explain to these neanderthals what you mean because they're like those red-necks in South Park, "Ther-tuk-ur-jaaawwwwbs"

Like The_Librarian (notice how he posts in each and every thread that has a problem with Afrihost saying he is happy with them) and several others. They're quick to jump on the "you abused the bandwidth so now you have to pay for it" bandwagon without realizing that all you did was cancel your account, had confirmation your account was canceled, got cut off immediately without using the bandwidth (or much of it) and then promptly was billed for it even though it was canceled at least 10 working days beforehand.

Now before anyone else argues the 30 day notice to cancel period, STFU and just listen/read what I said. He got cut off immediately

If there were a 30 day notice period they won't process his cancellation immediately now would they?

So stop being daft (others, not you Hxx)

Be happy they canceled and refunded your money. 1 less client for Afrihost proving cheap bandwidth does not equal happy customers.

Exactly, they cut you off immediately but require you to give 30 days cancellation notice, which, if you're unlucky enough to have this notice expire after the 1st of the next month, that they'll bill you anyway. Fun times hey?

Not that most other fanbois here understand what the real problem is...

1 less client is a drop in the ocean compared to Web Africa at the moment though :p

I will always praise Afrihost because I don't look at my little life as the be all and end all for everyone (like the OP that wants nobody to use them as HE forgot to cancel)

Yeah, you guys might not like them but I look at the bigger picture, and what they have done. Every single company in the world has dissatisfied customers.

I see Afrihost came into this thread to help the OP - sorted, done - it's not even their own site, meanwhile back at the ranch WebAfrica can't even help the countless people complaining ON THEIR OWN FORUM

And yeah, i'm not even an Afrihost User, but look at the bigger picture before one claims "Afrihost - don't use!"

;)

please provide reference where they can you account immediately if you give them a 30 notice on the first not to continue the next month. clearly the understanding part is in your court.

AcidRaZor, the OP clearly ****ed up as far as i can see.

Oh well - I did not say I don’t like them or that lowering prices wasn’t a good thing, BUT if someone charge me for something I did not ask for or something I did not purchase.... It will never be acceptable!

well, it clearly says 30 days in advance, it does not say "when you feel like it"

Renting a home is the same - 30 days in advance. you cannot simply pack up your things the 21st and leave.

a 1 year Warranty: 1 year - that's 365 days since the purchase date - not 366, not 389.

the only thing you can play around with is the expiry date of jogurt. you may eat it the day after it expires, but no longer than that! :D

This kind of thing is exactly why I will not sign with a new ISP before they have been around for a while.
And the comments (Positive and/or Negative) have been posted on myBB for a while.

Praise if it's good. Criticize if it's bad.

The thing is pretty much all ISP's are fine for the basic stuff, i.e running your account. If you actually need any support you might get issues and things like cancelling/end of month bandwidth issues happen, but I mean most of us with Afrihost accounts are perfectly fine. You just log on and use your cap and do the same thing next month.

They're all getting the same bandwidth so no one is faster or more reliable. If they do screw up something like this they aren't actually trying to steal from you like every second thread title will tell you. You just tell them what happened and they'll be reasonable.

very confusing part for some it seems :erm:

Finally the point I have been trying to make in every single thread!

Thank you!

Ja Moshe. I phoned to try and explain, send numerous emails etc... and the funny thing is that my problem only got sorted after posting here....

I just love it when Afrihost solve the issues highlighted in the forum. One could reason that it shouldn't have to come here in the first place, but it gives me a warm feeling and I feel confident in Afrihost when it does happen that they relay their message here to the op and it happens to solve the issue.

Im still yet to receive a reply from account about the billing of my cancelled account. Been 2 days now.. and no I dont feel like calling them again..

Maybe the title of this thread should be Afrihost - don't cancel!

That's great Moshe and as I said earlier it's nice to have you back on this forum.

So again.
Let's keep that going.

did the CEO himself not say that you could cancel before month end without taking the 30 day rule into account? when the CEO says something like that I see no reason why users of the company's product should not listen to him (and disregard the T&Cs). He has made the statement on a public forum so any court would think a reasonable man could act on the back of the CEOs statement.
