Afrihost Mobile Delivery Feedback Thread

Just got my email confirming the waybill number. Now I have to wait for confirmation when they will deliver. :)

Got mine today but it's not working.

I'll be using the sim in a D-Link 3G router. For testing purpose I'm using my old nokia E72. I can send and receive SMS messages. I did change the APN to afrihost. Whenever I try to connect to internet, it just say "connection not available". Does Afrihost still need to activate the data maybe or should it work?

I dont want to start complaining right away as I can see that the majority of users are happy. Can anybody shed some light on this, please!!

Strange, it should be working :( Could you PM me the details and I'll take a look at this for you.

Received my Mobile 3 after 5pm. Courier asks me to check parcel because it is way smaller than the one he delivered the last time (the one having the mifi device) :D

By now he knows me and he told me when he sees my name he knows where to go.

Thank you Afrihost and MDS !

There were guys that said they could track the driver on a map of some kind with a ETA to your delivery. I dont see that anywhere?

That could be possible before but too many people were complaining cause it was inaccurate would say the driver is 3Km, then you check again,6minutes later or so driver is now 10 Km away, instead of being closer they now further away. If you contact MDS tracking department they able to track down the driver but unfortunately I don't think that is possible if he is using a motorbike.

Mine just got delivered

Congratulations! At least we don't have to see your angry side cause I have never seen you angry on the forums :P Instead of blown off steam, go deplete all your bandwidth.

If that is the case, then they probably going to dispatch your goodies tomorrow. Noticed on 2 accounts - MiFi bundle &Sim Card. They will always send you communication with your wayBill, a day prior to dispatch.

The day prior to the delivery sim, they delivered my MiFi device was quiet surprised the driver had like about 50 or so MiFi to delivery(This driver found the place alright without any problems cause he use to work this side). Then around 4 PM the same day of delivery get 2 communications email, one stating delivered, the other with wayBill information for the next package.

No hiccups for second delivery, waited over a week to receive my MiFi device once it said dispatched. Folks just contact MDS quote your wayBill and make sure your delivery address is correct. Add more details like (intersection/crossroads), that way it can be easy for the driver to find u.

LOL! When the courier knows you by name ... not sure that's a good thing ;)

Same here! :D

@ Afriducks. One point of concern. If the delivery address are different than the RICA address then there is an issue as none of the MDS or Afrihost paperwork had the RICA address so I had to scramble to give my address as a proof as residence as well as the driver could not match the proof of address documentation with the paperwork. That caused another delay!

There cannot be an issue as Afrihost is not submitting your delivery address for RICA registration - I think the courier might've been somewhat confused? He only needs your ID + RICA proof of residence/address ... no matter where that address is and how much it differs from your delivery address.

The courier was not confused but rather meticulous. He checked the proof of address letter and compared it with all the addresses on the documentation he had as well as with all the documentation in the parcel and it did not match as ALL the documentation only had the delivery address. So how would he then know that the Proof of address was the correct address? So he was reluctant to give the delivery without a document that matches the paperwork address. The issue was it caused some confusion ans as such delayed the next delivery. Comprehenda?

Got the exact same problem with mine which I also received yesterday :(

When you RICA at pepstores, how do they know that the Telkom invoice you give them contains the correct address? By ascertaining if the document you give him looks authentic and then trusting said document - one of the many flaws of RICA. The courier did not listen to his instructions (imo) and have no idea how RICA works from what I am reading here.

tl;dr
Your RICA documentation you hand to him do not need to match any address he has with him.

Still off-topic, but I purchased and RICA'ed a prepaid sim from a PEP a while ago and all they asked for was my ID. I tried to give them my proof of address but they just wanted my address verbally and were not interested in the document.

RICA is a farce, just like every other government initiative!

As a RICA agent I approve of this message.

So like many other Interwebs hungry masses, I placed an order for 5GB Mobile plan for my moms. The event log for the parcel in my ClientZone looks something like this:

Event Date
Order Placed 30-08-2013 14:06:27
Parcel Packed 03-09-2013 10:45:28
Pending Dispatch 03-09-2013 11:27:55
Awaiting Collection 09-09-2013 13:44:01
Handed to Courier 09-09-2013 16:41:43
Courier Depot 16-09-2013 14:00:06
En-Route 17-09-2013 09:25:51

After keeping my parcel for approximately 1 week - I was finally notified that delivery would take place on 17/09. I received multiple emails to this effect. Yay I thought. I advised the recipient, my mom, to get her documentation and alles in order.

On Tuesday 17/09 with no heads up call, MDS / Collivery decided to deliver the parcel at 13:53. Unluckily, my mom was at work. She duly notified security that she'd be back much later - 19:00.

I am glad to announce that at 19:30 - MDS once again, unconfirmed, pitched up and delivered. Whilst I am stoked to finally have it; I really question MDS' logic. Better execution would come in handy for them. Work smart, not hard, dare I say stupid. A call would have cost them R5 but saved them much more in burnt petrol.

My Mobile 3 has just been delivered and is working like a charm. :)
