Afrihost Mobile Delivery Feedback Thread

Didn't get mine either today and same with my friend that works with me.

I can understand though that they have tons of them to deliver but that's not really an excuse.

Are these guys a new courier company? I've never heard of them.

Please guys use the tracing link and keep tabs with these couriers!

Must be my pc :(

Try another USB device in that port to test. Try another USB port. Try another cable. Make sure the device is charged at first. Try device on another computer. If you switch on the device check if your cell picks up the wifi link, it should do so instantly. It's already preconfigured thus you do not have to use the USB cable unless you need to set up something or want to tether internet via modem to PC.

Received mine at around 8:30pm tonight - working like a dream :)

How come so late?

Phoned the courier today to explain that I've been waiting the whole day for it (tracking initially said by 16:00 today then changed to 16:00 tomorrow).. he agreed how much of an inconvenience it must be causing so agreed to have it at my place this evening. Couldn't promise that it would be "by 5, but hopefully by 6 or 7".

Turns out the delivery guys still had to go to the airport before delivering to me, so it landed up arriving at 20:30.

Messed up my footy plans but good to have it up and running finally.

Good, Goes to show that my advice to communicate with them pays off well in the end.

I have already had a problem with mine:
It works too bloody well. Was busy setting it up so it was connected by USB but didn't realize that it then sets itself up as a "wired" network. Well half a gig later after I'd set up various odds and ends (wireless SSID etc ...) and a couple of files were downloaded :)

lets see how it goes today. Mine is still on

Collivery 1210***Status is : Processing Order

Due to the HUGE demand for this product from Afrihost, we will inform you, via email, the day before delivery will occur.

Very annoyed - for the last 2 days delivery status has said
Delivery will be before 16:00 on 27 August

and now its says - Due to the HUGE demand for this product from Afrihost, we will inform you, via email, the day before delivery will occur.

The worst part about it is that person (my dad) who i gave a referal for the deal - his status says - Status is : In branch - Prescheduled

Delivery will be before 16:00 on 27 August

Any ideas why?

Definitely very annoyed as well.
Order was scheduled to be delivered today at work. Rearranged my entire day to make sure I am available when it gets there. And now this crap.
Afrihost, next time make sure you deal with reputable couriers and not some fly by nights that cant even handle 8000 packages.
Very disappointed.

Totally agree with you! 8000 deliveries are nothing compared to a possible 100,000 deliveries when it's open to the public soon.

A tip to the guys who have to change their delivery address. Dont bother with the emails. I have sent three emails on different days to update the address, and they still sent the driver to the wrong address yesterday, and again today.

Rather call the courier company direct 0861 637 000.

Do this sooner rather then later -as a result of emails, my delivery is going to be 3 days late.

Guys,

I can understand your frustrations... I too am one of the people that is waiting...

What I want to say is keep in mind the following:

1. Afrihosts 'Income' is of the order of R1,160,000 for the 8000 odd units and sims they provided on the promotional signup
2. Their expenditure which has been widely touted as R22M far exceeds their income.
3. The logistics must have been a nightmare... Exporting customer details by region, who was in the first 1000 and the subsequent 4000 then 3000...
4. This has only been promised to be delivered on or around Tuesday NEXT week.
5. MDS Collivery is in no way affiliated with Afrihost. I assume Afrihost put out the tender and they came up with the best price per package... Afrihost is footing the bill.

Have we become so blase about what is really going on in the world that this type of promotion doesn't even register??? Come on. They are taking a huge loss to provide their customers with mobile data and subsidizing the cost through their marketing campaigns... Show a little gratitude.

There is obviously a plan about making that money back... there must be otherwise it just wouldn't make business sense.

Complaining in the data feedback thread isn't really going to help though. Might i suggest opening up a thread about MDS Collivery and their poor planning/feedback?

Disclaimer**

mrafiq1 - Sorry I used your post, but it was the last one. You aren't the only one complaining... ;)

3 emails (and a couple pm's to Afrigirl and Afriman) and they still have the wrong delivery address, and they have dispatched the driver twice to the wrong address - thats a legit reason to complain.

Understood, but look at #3. I was one of the first to sign up and know of people who signed up way later and have already received theirs.

Either way, I don't think the guys are mad at Afrihost, they're just miffed that the courier company made a booboo and they had been hoping to get it early, as was indicated on the tracking number.

I don't think we are wrong to complain about this sort of thing as Collivery was selected as a business partner by Afrihost for whatever reason (Price/promises etc.) I think it is only fair that we are not inconvenienced by that decision.

I do agree that it is a great deal and I am sure that we are all grateful, however as the consumer I am being inconvenienced by Afrihost's choice in courier companies. We as South African consumers are far too accepting of poor service and I believe that we should let the company know that Collivery is not a great partner if you want to keep your customers happy. I believe that 8000 orders are really not that big a deal and any of the other reputable courier companies would have easily dealt with it without the shambles.

In the end it is always you get what you pay for, and I am sure that the reduced rate being paid by Afrihost for this courier service is the reason we are getting sub-par service. If this was Vodacom/MTN/CellC, my gripe would still be the same and I would complain in their feedback thread as well.

Not attacking, just saying providing feedback to Afrihost. :D

Try to understand the reason that people are mad at MDS is that a lot of people put in leave yesterday, but to no avail. They didn't get to me either and it just showed "delivery failed"
