Afrihost Mobile Delivery Feedback Thread

Same here! :D

@ Afriducks. One point of concern. If the delivery address are different than the RICA address then there is an issue as none of the MDS or Afrihost paperwork had the RICA address so I had to scramble to give my address as a proof as residence as well as the driver could not match the proof of address documentation with the paperwork. That caused another delay!

You should be RICA'd with your residential address, not necessarily the address where you received the parcel. Otherwise FICA and RICA would have to be done at your home and not the bank or retail store you're visiting :)

Will post Speedtest results with a back-to-back vs Telkom Mobile later this evening.

Nervous - but confident our speeds will be awesome :)

So like many other Interwebs hungry masses, I placed an order for 5GB Mobile plan for my moms. The event log for the parcel in my ClientZone looks something like this:

Event Date
Order Placed 30-08-2013 14:06:27
Parcel Packed 03-09-2013 10:45:28
Pending Dispatch 03-09-2013 11:27:55

After keeping my parcel for approximately 1 week - I was finally notified that delivery would take place on 17/09. I received multiple emails to this effect. Yay I thought. I advised the recipient, my mom, to get her documentation and alles in order.

On Tuesday 17/09 with no heads up call, MDS / Collivery decided to deliver the parcel at 13:53. Unluckily, my mom was at work. She duly notified security that she'd be back much later - 19:00.

I am glad to announce that at 19:30 - MDS once again, unconfirmed, pitched up and delivered. Whilst I am stoked to finally have it; I really question MDS' logic. Better execution would come in handy for them. Work smart, not hard, dare I say stupid. A call would have cost them R5 but saved them much more in burnt petrol.

We're having a good long think about all the issues that have come out of this exercise. As a first venture into this type of product, we have definitely learned a lot. I can promise that our Directors and management are reviewing every aspect, the comments on this thread and from our surveys, and we'll be making sure that we tighten up the process (and the quality of service we provide) so that we don't get stuck in the same place again :(

Couriers struggle to deliver at set times. Normally this is not an issue because the parcel can be signed for by anyone at the premises on the receivers behalf (proxy letter etc).

RICA has caused the issue in that the receiver MUST be present when MDS or it's sub-contractor delivers. If there was a way for AFRIHOST to do RICA differently, like receive the documents via email and the ID is a certified copy, then there would not be this mess.

AFRIHOST - have you thought about RICA'ing before delivery whereby the client sends you a certified copy of his ID and then proof of address? This would eliminate all of these issues...

All depends on the RICA process laws though...

So, nearly two weeks now and my parcel doesn't even reflect as packed... Not great. Will the data I was meant to be allocated this month be rolled over to nest month?

When you RICA at pepstores, how do they know that the Telkom invoice you give them contains the correct address? By ascertaining if the document you give him looks authentic and then trusting said document - one of the many flaws of RICA. The courier did not listen to his instructions (imo) and have no idea how RICA works from what I am reading here.

tl;dr
Your RICA documentation you hand to him do not need to match any address he has with him.

You still seems to NOT grasp the issue. I never claimed that it's a Rica issue. I said the driver refused to leave the package UNLESS I give him a matching prove of address. That is the issue. I feel F-All for the Rica process. Comprehendo?

Title: Apologies & a Gift (Re: Your MiFi Delivery)

Thato ,

I've got bad news.

And also a little good news that'll hopefully help soothe the pain of the bad.

First the bad news: It looks like your MiFi device will only be delivered next week.
I am gutted. And I'm sure you are too.

I am sincerely sorry that we could not get your MiFi to you by the 6th of September as promised.

There were a bunch of factors that contributed to this: The biggest was that we originally planned to give away far, far fewer MiFis than the 8157 we did.

But after the first 1000 sold out in minutes we didn't want to disappoint anyone - So we ended up giving away over 8 times more MiFis than we had planned to.

And one of the consequences of this was that MDS Collivery, our couriers, had far more deliveries to make than they had budgeted for.

On top of that they were also hamstrung by terrible weather in some regions and the fact that we were not as clear about the delivery address details we needed from you in our original order forms as we should have been. This led to many delivery addresses needing to be changed after we gave the MiFis to the couriers which put additional strain on them.

But I'm not trying to make excuses.

You are our client and I take full responsibility for letting you down.

So now for the good news:

As a small token to show you how sorry we are - and to hopefully make it up to you - we are going to be adding FIVE EXTRA GBs to your Mobile account for the month of October.

For NO extra cost or obligation.

I am sincerely sorry.

MDS will continue to do their best to get your device to you as soon as they can.

As I hope you know, we are completely committed to delighting you with every aspect of our service - and in this case we have definitely not lived up to our own high expectations and have let you down.

I sincerely hope that when you do get your MiFi it will bring you such joy that the pain of waiting a few extra days for it will be quickly forgotten.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Sorry again.

Warm regards

Not quite possible. You have to present yourself at the vendor's offices. Was a big problem for ISP servicing clients in areas where they have no offices. Can't remember what concession they made.

OK, plan B and I do recall it being suggested in one of the threads:

Email all clients waiting for their orders and give them a meeting place in their town during certain times on a certain day to collect their parcel.... Client arrives, walks up to a table, hands over RICA documents, walks away with parcel.... DONE!

This idea will certainly work.

I repeat again. The issue was not the RICA process as I care less. The issue was the driver would not release the package unless I gave him the "wrong" proof of address for the delivery that matched his paperwork. Thus the net affect was the next delivery was delayed by a 10-20 odd minutes. ;)

I received a similar email, but I was debited for data this month, and expect it to be rolled over to the next month due to AfriHost not delivering my package as yet...

AfriMan- can you pick this up?

Delivered! Whoop whoop!

EDIT: @AfriGuy... I ordered the SIM only as I'd gone out and bought the self-same MiFi router you guys are offering a couple of days before your deal started. Do I need to change the APN on the router or will it be plug and play?

What FlashSA said :)
You'll need to change the APN to 'afrihost' and you'll be good to go.
