Afrihost MTN Fixed LTE-A Thread

@ReeceDBN031: It should. In my case the surnames of the Afrihost account holder and the receiver were different and there were no problems. I did make sure that both original and copies of the receiver's documents were available on collection.
Lucky you, lol its been a loooong time since i did RICA, so i didnt even know.. they should include drivers license though

I don't think RICA has achieved much regarding reducing crime etc. but the service providers have no option.

When you resubmit your application maybe you can take a screenshot of the page where you enter all the delivery details (before you fill in all of your details) and post it with a comment about where to enter the receiver's details etc. as it was a bit confusing to me whether to enter the account holder's details or the receiver's. I think you have to enter your mother's ID number (not yours) and cell number etc. but I can't remember offhand.

i was clrearly told that no 3rd party can do this?
@AfriMan the heck going on???

You can receive the delivery if you have your RICA documents, the RICA documents of the person who will use the product (recipient) and then a letter authorising you to receive their delivery. It's then up to the RICA agent whether they accept the docs based on what is presented to them.

I would recommend just doing a direct RICA unless you absolutely have to. We sometimes see this not working out becuase the documents are not correct or they are not originals, etc. Remember you must also have proof of address.

I'm not a gamer, but was just curious about ping, jitter, speeds to international connection.
Not quite as fast as local, but not bad either considering I'm at the tip of Africa.

I've switched to a different tower in the same town. A few weeks now - not blocked.

You seem to be only person, probably a lucky glitch.

MTN/AH/Axxess as well as the local rep have specifically warned ppl not to do this as all the above cases testify.

Tower goes down for load shedding - you connect to another automatically - will you be blocked? I dont think they that stupid with the way it's set up. They will have built some level of flexibility into the system to cater for situations like this. In a city you can be within range of multiple towers and the signal stats will change based of weather and other variables so it would make sense that it may be a radius setting rather than a specific tower setting. I wouldn't trust the various reps technical knowledge 100% - seems like they just relay what they have been told by MTN.

Mine was activated within a few minutes after I installed it in my router. Should see the sim number on your Afrihost profile after activated.

Weird question but, I realise LTE is different from ADSL but my ping generally is quite high in gaming servers.

Local ping: 100
EU: 240

Is there something I can do to bring this down or is it normal

LTE is generally higher ping as apposed to fixed line.
