Afrihost MTN Fixed LTE-A Thread

I bought the B525.
i currently own one with Telkom and it works decent.

So you mean changing bands and selecting LTE only etc?

No.

Here you go>

was supposed to have my sim delivered today between 12 - 2 the courier sends me a message to say they at my residences i was outside but no one was there. CCD is giving me a run around and afrihost is of no help.

Anyone had a problem with Internet not working?
APN correctly set as ws.afrihost.fwa. Full signal in Huawei B525 router homepage.
Shows the profile invalid.
Currently escalated to Afrihost critical care.

Same issue here, my first router went down last week on the 19th,

my other one is full signal but no data going through except ping and traceroute (no tcp or udp traffic is working) this started at about 18:30 today. Glad I'm not the only one having this problem.

Afriman when you see this, please escalate this request. I'm currently on 150+150 GB LTE.

I'm currently falling short end month of anytime data, for example it's now the 27th and I got 15gb left but 100+GB of night data.

But my request is simple, if possible, to sacrifice night data to anytime.

For example my 150gb + 150gb would be able to be 150gb+50gb anytime data and 0 nighttime data, whatever ratio seems fair.

I hope it could potentially be a possibility @AfriMan

Rain mobile SIM work like a charm. Automatically detected and configured.

So it didn't take very long but MTN network seems to be oversubscribed. From a consistent 30 down to now 4 down and 20 up. @AfriMan I thought this was not supposed to happen as the fixed LTE is a completely separate network?

Mine is still a respectable 55+/20 Mbps with download peaks of over 80 to 90 at night.

Time will tell like most things.

Judging from the above issues currently being experienced, am now having second thoughts putting my Mother on this product.

It would really depend on the uptake in each area. It is a different network, as I understand, and is dedicated to Fixed LTE. But if there is a large interest in a specific area, it's possible that demand could be high. Overall, there are not many resellers on the network and we're still seeing pretty good performance. Also, if demand is high, MTN should pick this up and look at upgrading backhaul to improve performance.

Are speeds constantly poor? It may be a technical issue, as it's unlikely that demand wouldn't fluctuate for peak and off-peak times.

I totally get where you are coming from. From our side, we've always favoured simple, anytime data and avoided this kind of complexity.

We're definitely hoping we can offer similar products in the future without sacrificing the great price per GB. For now, I think we're tied in to how MTN structure their deals, but we're hoping to have more simple packages in the future.

So I have done tests on MTN fixed, MTN mobile, and Cell C (roaming on MTN) all connected to the same tower with LTE + device. Speedtests are all pretty much the same - 5 down around 20 to 40 up. All have same tower ID. So I can't find evidence that fixed has a dedicated network. They all seem to be using the same antenna, tower and backhaul. I've tried with 2 different towers and both have poor download speeds. Could MTN perhaps be throttling the download speeds to cope with peak holiday demand?

So I just got my Afrihost Fixed LTE sim card the other day. Very impressed with the results:

I've got a Huawei B618s device with a Poynting LTE antenna mounted on my roof. I'm about 8km from the tower with good line of sight.
