Afrihost MTN Fixed LTE-A Thread

Is anyone having problems?

I'm on Webafrica's MTN Fixed-LTE, but it's all MTN's infrastructure right? I noticed my internet was slower yesterday or so, especially streaming video. Today it's much worse, YouTube reverts to 360p, if it even starts playing. I get occasional bursts of fast internet but its overall useless. Been on MTN Fixed-LTE for a few months now and never had issues until this week.

I'm in Bellville in the Western Cape

Hi,

Are you still experiencing issues?
Hey all good now, had to restore factory settings.

I do have another issue...i keep getting blacklisted IP's which is getting me banned on some of the sites i use (Saying im using a VPN/Proxy). Nearly every IP is blacklisted.

Which IP range are you getting? Do you get a public IP address on the wan port?

WhatsmyIp is giving 102.xxx and 169.xxx IP's. Not too sure about this - Do you get a public IP address on the wan port?

Been checking them on here: https://mxtoolbox.com/blacklists.aspx

With our Fixed LTE we provide public IP addresses. These Addresses might be on some black lists as public IP addresses for internet connections are not supposed to be used for sending out mail. We suggest using an email relay for that.

These listings will however not affect your browsing ability and it it does we need to investigate why that is.

Can you send me any examples of issues you are experiencing for me to have a look and forward it on to our noc team?

Sites that use cloudflare are blocking me because the IP's are blacklisted.

Do you have any examples? Mybroadband and Afrihost.com is both sites that are behind cloudflare. Can you access these without any issues?
Hmm, yea no issues with those. Not sure then, all i know is i used a vpn that wasn't blacklisted at all and had no issues with the site that was giving issues with a blacklisted IP. But for now everything is fine i've sorted it out with them.

Okay let me know if the issue happens again. Our IPs on the Fixed LTE is dynamic. Each time a session is dialed you get a new IP. It will be impossible to delist each IP address. The blacklists on mxtoolbox are usually related to mail blacklists and should not have any adverse effects on internet browsing.

Yea is suspect it may have been an issue on their side and using a VPN was just a coincedence..havent had an issue without it since.

I usually get a Cloudflare Error 522 Connection timed out when I try to visit www.news24.co.za using Afrihost Pure LTE. The problem started about 2 weeks ago. I can browse the Afrihost and MyBroadband websites without any problems.

The WhatsApp support told me to wait for 48 hours for the sim card to be activated. That's not correct. You need to enter the Afrihost APN - "ws.afrihost.fwa".

I only got that after almost 2 days of the red light and finally emailing support.

Initial speed test:
Ping 35
Download 85 Mbps
Upload 25 Mbps
Where can I put this Apn

Which device are you using?

I always recommend new simcard to be inserted into a phone first. Let it register on the MTN network for 2min or so. Then insert the sim card into the router and set the APN to ws.afrihost.fwa username and password blank.
