Afrihost negative feedback thread

It's been streaming fine for me for a while now. I do find Youtube is better in Chrome with the Magic Actions for Youtube extension installed though.

Heh, so my prediction was probably accurate. I said last week that the real reason they ran away is they couldn't deal with the network issues and that they would come back once the issues blow over. Now the streaming complaints are drying up and whaddaya know, they're back. :p

Anyway, glad it's starting to work again. Unfortunately my trust is broken and I'll never make use of them again. The way they handled this situation as well as running to RPM to enforce censorship left a very bad taste in my mouth.

Asked one of the reps to help me with a package migration on a mobile package, as I was getting an error from the ClientZone.

His response was that I can do the change from the ClientZone, and should let him know if I get stuck.

Just took a look at the PM you're referring to, doesn't look like you mentioned an error was occurring in the initial PM :)
 
Those of us on CW are privileged, no argument there. :p

Happy to be privileged, would be happy to pay R2/Gb too (not that I pay that).

Recently tried out the R1Gb promo and switched back to my CrystalWeb 10Mb/s uncapped after a few hours - it was night and day.

How a capped account on a 20Mb/s line can be so much slower than 10Mb/s uncapped I will never understand.
 
Hi Guys

Just a quick question I have a prepaid Afrihost account just for those days when my Crystalweb accidentally runs out a day or two before month end. I would have thought that prepaid data should be treated the same like capped data in that it should not be throttled.

The last 2 days that I had to use it, anything before about 5pm seems to be throttled.
Not are very big train smash since midnight it's back to my main account. It's just a bit weird to be throttled on prepaid data.
 
My word, reading over this thread gave me a good laugh.

We left AfriHost around a year and a half ago because our 10MB Business Uncapped line was completely unusable for gaming. Never mind the fact that downloads and P2P were always throttle to <20% and <10% respectively. Back then it was deny deny deny regarding network/capacity issues, until one of those soppy emails from Gian arrived apologising and admitting there was indeed an issue. It seems after all this time they still haven't learnt their lesson and the same nonsense keeps happening. I've had two colleagues leave AfriHost in the past month because the streaming performance is so bad.

What grates me is those emails from Gian, though. I got one the other day as I clearly hadn't unsubscribed, and they're so unprofessional in my opinion. They're a large company...they shouldn't be sending out "personal" messages from the CEO as if they're a tech start up who can still get away with not having their act together. Get your house in order and stop screwing up.
 
I have had awesome experiences with Afrihost mobile and ADSL, cheap, fast, youtube streaming a winner etc. Barring the weeks odd outage right at the beginning of the mobile offering earlier this year but they gave me 10gb free data as a recompense, so no worries this side!

Sure man... Im of the opinion, and this is purely my opinion. I know people are frustrated and angry, and you as a client should have every right to vent your anger. However, the reps are human after all, and its not a great feeling when they are just doing their jobs, and people are constantly just attacking them.

Be polite, and show that you are not happy, but be respectable about it. Why burn bridges, when tomorrow you might for some reason decide to return. Likewise, if you are not happy, and decide to leave, maybe indicate to the ISP that you are leaving, because they have not met the quality you expected from them, but that you hope that things go well for them.

We are all adults here, and we all trying to help each other out. Heck as an Afrihost client, ive on many occasions recommended Crystal Web to friends. Its somehow just the way we handle things.

Here's what I wonder as an outsider who read a few posts in the other thread because I was considering Afrihost again. Why do you have to don the shining armour to defend Afrihost in a zillion posts. You do realise that smacks of an agenda.

You seem to go on and on and on about this. Give it a break. If what you're defending is good, it doesn't need your defense.

And why do you get to preach to everybody on how they should conduct themselves.

Afrihost just took R797 off my account for no reason. only active service i have with them is a 1GB free account and an old line transfer that was canceled ages ago..seriously uncool...

Are you sure you cancelled the Premium Uncapped account you had just the other day?

I have Uncapped Premium with Afrihost do they shape torrents? with CrystalWeb i get full speed with Afrihost around 20%...
 
did you cancel before the 23rd?

If memory servers me right i canceled said account on the 22nd even so i got this email on the 30th

If i pay for another month surely said account should still show in clientzone and warning beforehand should be displayed when you click that cancel button?

Edit: still no feedback from Afrihost..really poor support regret taking up on the R1 offer to test out the offerings they had :(

Reading through the AfriHost thread all I can say is lol. Wonder if Gian will be asking MyBB to censor more peeps soon? Will I be asked not to post about AH at all if I say in this thread that they are a "1-2-3 now I am an ISP" ISP?

Poor AH. They just can't catch a break. :crylaugh:
 
Nothing funny about a company taking money for services that it know's it is not able to deliver.

You know you can cancel though, right?
And if you haven't been getting what you've been paying for, log a dispute with them.
