Afrihost New Network Feedback - Part 3

You probably missed that I posted a general message just prior to this, not directed at any user, asking that we keep the discussion on point and that we play nice together. We definitely want to keep the threads constructive and positive.

You're going to have to point it out, because the only posts I see is one saying "we don't want anyone to feel bullied" two posts before you told kohltor why his post was 'problematic'. You never directly address your fans' bullying directly. Case in point:

I totally appreciate that you are wanting to stay an Afrihost client, and none of the reps have ever asked you to leave. That's really not what we're about, except in very extreme circumstances.

Two of your rabid fans have, however, and you didn't say a word about. They tell people to leave fairly regularly as well.

When your fans do that it raises tempers and helps nobody. Why do you allow it to persist?

Please take this to PM.

I know this boggles your mind, but you're not an AfriHost rep. It's really absolutely none of your business what other people post in this thread, why they choose to stay with AfriHost or what their issues are. That's the core of what is being driven home here. Any time someone complains you and your band of merry fanboys jump on them with "why don't you move" or "no issues my side". It's the PostManPot/Mweb issue all over again. "Backseat" ISP reps.

Assumption is the mother of all screwups, amiright. Fibre, baby.

Remove the very last sentence and you'll see it the way it was before the edit.

Because you're not an ISP rep and your passive-aggressiveness causes customers with legitimate complaints more anger?

Did you simply not notice the fallout when PostManPot was called out for doing precisely what you're doing here, in the Mweb threads? PostManPot doesn't even post here anymore because he got burned so bad. People were complaining they didn't even want to post in the Mweb threads anymore because PMP would be there to provide them with 'support'. I know for a fact the same is happening here as people have told me so directly.

IMO, MyBB needs to lock down all feedback threads so that users can only post their issues and have the ISP reps respond. This thing where random users can post their 'support' and 'advice' and behave like absolutely twats is a double-standard if you consider that all other posts (such as this one) gets shut down. These threads are here for support from the official forum reps. If fanboys want to banter or give 'advice' they should be forced to do so in separate threads. Why MyBB, and by extension AfriHost considering the amount of sway they have with management, allows fans to behave the way they do boggles the mind. It causes frustration to legitimate customers trying to get support and feedback and more often than not leads to fights.

MyBB really needs to consider putting an end to backseat ISP repping in the official ISP feedback threads.

you say im not a rep, true. But the mods allow other users from another ISP, to comment on Afrihost related matters.

again, you moved on, and yet you felt the need to show up in this thread with a screen shot of a speed test, and saying how wonderful it is to be away from adsl and isp's, which you conveniently edited. Was that needed?

in terms of locking down threads, dont be silly. You clearly dont know too much about how most forums work. You wouldn't survive on most forums, if you cannot handle things like this. Another issue with you, is that you think only a rep should be able to assist another user, when many users have been assisted by other users. So to want to have reps only respond is absurd, because if the reps are not available, what is stopping another user from actually assisting where possible. You seem to have a problem with this, and its an absolute joke.

notice also since you came back on here gloating with your speed test, how this thread has started to derail again. You literally came on to prove a point, and yet you are the want trying to be all defensive? Strange that hey?

let me rather refrain from saying anything further ronnie, but to end it here User moves away from AH - thread is going lekker again- everybody is chilled-user returns to boasts about the speeds-thread derails-we back to where we were.

Wrong again. Do try to keep up. You can't even keep track of threads anymore if you think I posted the speedtest in this thread and edited it away.

Very often users do not ask for nor want other users' assistance, as in the case of kohltor. Again, you're not a rep. If you want to assist a user you should do so via PM or another thread. This thread should be for users to seek assistance from the official forum reps. The 'assistance' you've given here could often not be called that. Telling a user to move on is not assistance and nor is it your place to do so. You're actively causing users frustration and I'm questioning why AfriHost allows it.

What I'm saying is that there should be two threads, one where only the official reps can respond and another that is a free-for-all. Dunno why you're so irate about this? If users want your 'assistance', they can ask for it, no?

This is becoming Zoopy/Iceman/Kohlhtor thread. You guys have a bet to see who can post the most in the shortest amount of time?

Guys

Please can we get this thread back on track and focus solely on trying to make the Afrihost experience better, and reporting individual issues/experiences for that sole purpose.

I agree with the mod that this is a space for existing Afrihost clients to engage with Afrihost reps - unless there is a constructive user-to-user discussion, this is not helpful.

Just checking .........

I used to be on the capped 60Gig account for R129.00. AH then made it a 60+60 for R129.00. With the changes that were made end December 2016/beginning January 2017, I am back at 60 Gigs for R129.00 .......... more expensive than your 100 Gig for R99.00.

Question 1:

Any idea why my usual 120 Gici (60 + 60) dropped back to 60 Gigs but the other packages were consolidated in to the sum of the two (e.g. 50 + 50 is now a 100 Gig, 75 + 75 is now 150 Gigs)?

Question 2

With halving my data allocation (at the same price - 120 Gigs reduced to 60 Gigs for R129.00), why were I not given the option to downgrade to the 100 Gig package for R99.00. The only mail I got from Gian regarding changes to capped accounts was the announcement that we are no longer getting the midnight to 6 PM free data anymore.

A response from one of the AH reps would be greatly appreciated, as I feel I am being ripped off, having to pay R129.00 for 60 Gigs as opposed to the option to pay R99.00 for 100 Gigs :wtf:

I know the 60 Gig account is no longer available to new clients, but I stayed on this, even when I did not use my full 120 Gig allocation during the "Free Data" window period, as I was OK with paying a little bit more (R129.00 as opposed to R99.00), as I was happy with the service I received (as well as data allocation). It now appears that I am being penalized for my willingness to pay that extra little bit - Ouch AH, ouch!

You are comparing an Unshaped package to a Shaped one.

You are comparing an Unshaped package to a Shaped one.

My request was pretty clear in the sense that I specifically asked for an AH rep to respond .............

But seeing that you wanted to jump on the band wagon - As far as I recall, my capped account was always unshaped. What you are telling me now (I think) is that the 100 Gig capped @ R99.00 is shaped and my "new" 60 Gig @ R129.00 is ....... well still unshaped but the allocated data I get is halved (sommer net so, without giving me an option up front)?

Second question - how do I determine if my capped data is indeed unshaped .... or alternately shaped?

Third question, surely AH should have notified me regarding the change in our service agreement and also provided me with the choice of option?

Hey there

Sorry about the confusion, I know that we've seen a few clients with some similar questions. Hope I can answer them all here. Just to clarify that the prices shown by default on the website are Shaped Capped accounts, so the Unshaped Capped accounts are generally more expensive at about twice the price for the same amount of data.

Question 1 - The default should have been to be on shaped capped for the same amount of data that you were getting during the Double Data promotion. The only exception may have been non-standard, legacy bundles which have been discontinued. If you replied to the email to opt for the Unshaped (or Priority Boosted) package, that would have come into effect this month. I'll have to check (we should have all the responses tagged to your account).

Question 2 - I think the 120GB option was a legacy bundle, so I think this may not have been included in the intial mail run, but I will be able to know exactly what mails were sent when I check your account.

You can definitely pay the standard R99 price for 100GBs, just remember that this would be Shaped Capped data, and not Unshaped Data.

Drop me a PM, I am sure we can figure this out :)

We have updated product descriptions now in ClientZone so Capped accounts will display as either Shaped Capped or Unshaped Capped. Previously Shaped Capped accounts displayed as Capped.

Simfy - Afrihost Plus+ 2017-01-01 2017-01-31 R0.00
300+300 GB - 2017-01-01 2017-01-31 R299.00

I assume this is Capped Unshaped ?

It's Shaped Capped, as far as I can tell, with Double Data added. Would need to confirm on your account for you.
