Hey

There are 2 NWI's still ongoing. The backup NLD can't carry all the traffic so it's degraded during the evening peak. Once these 2 outages are resolved the speeds should be restored.

Any update on this issue? More packet loss again tonight.

This keeps happening, logged a ticket this morning, they recreated the port told me turn ONT and router off for 10mins and then it was fine for a few hours...now its back and they just telling me the same thing. Sometimes its dropping every 2mins, sometimes 15mins with no issue

Pretty much 80% packet loss now somewhere in *.ip.afrihost.capetown.

Internet unusable since about 20:30. Called Afrihost. Could not see anything untoward. They logged a call with Vumatel. I told Afrihost that my neighbours all have full connectivity without any packet or latency issues. Anyway.
I will have to call tomorrow again.

Very slow download speed Vuma Villages again battled to load this page.

This is happening every day as it was since October 2022 then was fixed for the month of February but the fault is back nearly every night and is fixed every time soon after I have reported it to support. WTF is going on with Afrihost again?!!

Vuma Villages has been needing to fix their problems since last year June. It’s a total disgrace if you ask me. Was with Afrihost from March when they installed the lines here and it was fine up until the end of May. Then non stop packet loss. Afrinatic tried his very best to help me get it all sorted out but we had no luck there for like 2 months or so with Vuma. Swapped to CISP and the packet loss was gone because they used PPPoE. Now I’m stuck with constant drops in connection.

It just seems to me that Vumatel have no cares at all about the Vuma Village/Aerial customers. It’s an absolute joke.

Can we get a map of Vuma Village/Aerial so we can move to an area without Vuma Village/Aerial?

I have nearly changed to WebAfrica several times as they are a lot cheaper. I was with Cool ideas years ago and they ran out of bandwidth and they couldn't afford to buy more data the constant dropping of the Cool ideas connection drove me around the bend so I moved to Home Connect which was stable most of the time I just moved to Afrihost because Home Connect was blocking my Windows Clock form updating the time. So stupid because Home Connect was ok. I think MTN airmobile.co.za is the cause of the slow speed as MTN owns Afrihost. Thinking of moving soon as I have had enough of this dropping to a slow speed every night.

Should I choose WebAfrica or go back to Home Connect?

Please do some research, WebAfrica has the worst possible reputation on this forum of any ISP, if you have an issue or want to cancel, it will take months to resolve
Afrihost is a good ISP, as long as the FNO is good as well, I have had zero issues with Afrihost and have been on 2 separate FNO's now
Moving ISP's is going to give you headache's and you going to most likely have the same result in the end
Best thing you can do is try get a FNO to install in your area

It is not Vuma Village/Aerial problem it is Afrihost causing the slow speeds every night.

As soon as I contact support the speed goes up so it Afrihost MTN airmobile.co.za problem!!

I did look into WebAfrica and only found positive reviews. Have you used WebAfrica?

Home Connect is also cheaper than Afrihost so I am wondering if I should move back to them. I only moved from Home Connect to Afrihost because they blocked Time Server: time.windows.com so my Windows 11 clock would not keep the correct time. Stupid really when I think about it as I have 215 ClientZone Ticket emails from Afrihost and 2 Ticket emails for slow connection with Home Connect one in July 2020 and the other in March 2021.

The problem is Afrihost MTN airmobile.co.za NOT Vuma Villages which they keep blaming.

2 articles I found in 10 seconds on the forum alone, of multiple people saying how bad WebAfrica is
Here is a 3rd

Getting more than 25% packet loss this morning. Unable to stream anything.
Having issues with connectivity since Thursday morning.

Do I have to change ISP's again?
